Posted - 07/18/2007 : 10:47:37 I've had the "best of" a while and I prefer the noticeably different second half to the earlier songs. I haven't listened to any of his work other than "Bluefinger", so which albums are a must-have for the sound I prefer? |

Interesting. Man of steel has that Neil Young epic feeling like a lot of Catholics songs (especially on pistolero and devil's workshop) but a much more luxurious production. |

Posted - 07/21/2007 : 09:52:32 Hi pos, FM/RM is great. It's a little different if you're only used to Frank's early stuff, but it'll probbaly grow on you, some of the songs are up there as the best of FB.

Also, a big question here but what tracks would you guys put on a "Frank Black and the Catholics" best of? If you had to pick about 20. |

Posted - 07/20/2007 : 18:27:18 My favourite FB albums, themewise, strange/experimental pop rock = Teenager of the year, rock album (catholics era) = pistolero, acoustic/nashville FB = Honeycomb. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of his albums though to be honest, they all have great songs on them. It depends what style you prefer the second half, Black Letter Days and The Devil's Workshop have probably the best all around mix (both were released the same week).

Posted - 07/20/2007 : 09:20:42 Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Just got "Black Letter Days", and I think it's fantastic. Exceptional songs: "1826", "Jane The Queen Of Love" and of course, "California Bound". It's also good to know this forum is a great place to discuss good music, so thanks again. |

Violet sings on 'Fort Wayne'. Not an album, but a song. Their future project and tours are going to be out of this world. I CAN'T RECOMMEND FORT WAYNE HIGHLY ENOUGH. BACK ME UP COASTLINE.
You need to listen to 'Don't Get Me Wrong' = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oolEWYrK_Oo
