I assume FB likes all/most of these artists, otherwise why mention them right? Anyway I have these so far:
MENUDO & RAMONES [I heard ramona sing]
DAVID BOWIE [western star]
HENRY SLOANE? CHUBBY CHECKER, DESMOND DEKKER & FREDDY FENDER [I want rock & roll]
DESMOND DEKKER, again [parry the wind high/low]

Wait, the sasquatch is extinct? That'll be disappointing news to the King of Karaoke, if he ever reads this.

Fair enough. Speaking of disagree, I can't tell if Jimmy's being facetious or not, but pretty sure there's no mention of Ellen Burstyn in Living on Soul, however interesting that would be.

i respectfully disagree

Yes there is, and this is a 'barb' with nothing innocent about it. If you guys were getting along, or things didn't tend to spiral out of control, fine. That's not the case.

jeeze louise, this is becoming the G rated forum isn't it? we're not allowed to take humorous jabs at each other?

there's a difference between a "barb" and an innocent joke..

Things like this will result in Floop being as extinct as a Sasquatch on this here forum.

No barbs needed, thanks.

"You Can't Crucify Yourself" talks about Marillion. At least that's what I hear from the copy I have.

"Living On Soul" is about Ellen Burstyn, star of "The Exorcist"-
"Burstyn, Ellen Burstyn / yeah, you'll be living on soul"

By the way, why did the Isrealites wander around for 40 years?

Is it possible that the line about "road to ruin" in Bad Harmony could maybe be about the Ramones album of the name? Maybe, maybe not? I'm stretching it a bit I suppose...

Hey BrendanT, I was just fuckin around, feeling kinda poetic, and I wrote some additional verses to Solid Gold, including an Acrostic using my ex-wife's first name, Dorian.

I had a blast doing it and I'll surely post some additional verses to Solid Gold Part II in the near future.

I don't have any information concerning Frank's version of Solid Gold Part II and I don't think it exists, but thanks for asking about my version.

"The reverend he came to say

I know Frank enjoys Mr. Reverend Horton Heat. Is that to whom this line in ANNOUNCEMENT refers?

Absoposilutely!

FB must have been on a Chet kick when they did this album. He cites "Chet Baker & Crew" in an interview somewhere...

If you're expanding it to non-performing famous people, there's always Heloise and Sameul Beckett.

Helllllllooooooo, Carl, wakeup, you know the Acrostic "Dorian" in SOLID GOLD
(Oh wait a minute, that's in the rare and seldom listened to Part II of SOLID GOLD, my bad...)

btw, Robert Gunt[h]er from Humbolt County Massacre

But even Robert Gunter found it was a crime

BTW, which song is about Robert Gunther?

OldManInaCoffeeCan Posted - 11/18/2005 : 22:18:33
Yeah, all of my favorites have been duly noted above and some others if we could expand the category to include famous people?,
e.g., John Denver, John Candy, Johnny Horton, Hiram "Hank" Williams, Robert Zubrin, Robert Gunther, Captain Beefhart, Joe Harriman, William Mulholland (2 songs),...

...oh yeah, I can't forget or fail to mention, the song Frank wrote about
my somewhat psychotic, past "soul mate" DORIAN

SOLID GOLD

"...it's a sin
Getting so down

I'm not saying I understand
Lord knows who can understand
Life can be an awful plan
And yours it ain't the worst

Damn, Get over it, Get on with it,
Or quit fuckin wallerin in your sorrow,

Really, nevermind, just leave me alone,
I'll get the fuck outta here,
And don't get up out of your doldrums,
No, I'll be on my way tomorrow."

Did I miss it or did nobody mention Jonathan Richman from "The Man Who Was Too Loud" (a song which as I've heard from someone who knows Richman, that he's not the keenest on.... but whatever! I love it and his music as well).

Alienation confers freedom. Obscurity will keep you pure. Pray that you won’t be discovered young, so that you won’t be tempted to sell out early, or won’t be seduced by celebrity.
