Rich Gilbert, vaunted guitarist for Frank Black and The Catholics and all-around-nice-guy, will be coming by to talk with FB.Net members today at 12 PM Forum Time. The Q&A session will be held here. Anyone is welcome to ask questions. You just have to be able to post on FB.Net.

You will be able to ask your questions directly to Rich, but with the stipulation that if there are quite a few pending questions for Rich already, that you hold back your question until he's answered them.

This thread will be unlocked shortly before noon (2 PM Central Time). See you then!

VERY IMPORTANT Please refersh no more than once every 30 seconds so that we don't cut off the server. If people do this, Rich should also have an easier time answering. Thank you!

Alright then, I'm fixin' to leave, Mrs. CoffeeCan is not going to be able to accompany me tonight, however, I'm working on my dear, sweet, and very beautiful neighbor,Heidi, trying to get her out tonight, tempted her with some good Hard Country Blues and a whole lot of "two-steppin" and other assorted Country and Western dancin', I believe she is making arrangements now, leave her kids at my house for a big sleep-over, and the two of us will head down to Lower Broad shortly...I'll make it up to Mrs. CoffeeCan when I get home, and if she's lucky I may even whisper a few lines from "Breathless" in her ear when I get home early this morning, I'm sure that'll make up for tonight!

OldManInaCoffeeCan Posted - 05/06/2005 : 12:08:34

Hey, I hope to see Rich play with Joshua Black Wilkins tonight and I may be able to buy him a beverage and speak with him at some point, so if anyone has anything they need askin', post it here, I'll check before I leave tonight....And, remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question [yeah, right]...

Carl Posted - 04/27/2005 : 10:47:19
I'm sure he'll pop in again eventually!
misterwoe Posted - 04/26/2005 : 22:23:01
...Is Rich coming back?

Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole.
fbc Posted - 04/24/2005 : 16:42:37
Okay, a little late, but better than never, yeah?

Oldman, you're a star, thanks for posting those questions for me. Those pre/post thingies? We'll call 'em 'bofoors' from now on. Thanks Dean for setting this up too, or at least for unlocking the thread.

And, now, at last, I think I miss the Catholics...no, wait....done their work, moved on.

Oh, and Rich said it best. Legalise!
Cult_Of_Frank Posted - 04/24/2005 : 13:31:39
Thanks again for stopping in Rich. Don't be a stranger, feel free to pop in anytime!

Love the new sig, LBF. :)

Hey Rich, cool that you're here - I have a coupla questions...
Is there any more work with Tanya Donelly planned (recorded/live)? I really enjoyed the last album, and the show in Shepherd's Bush was one of my favourite ever.

Also, where did you learn to move like that? That's some serious snake-hips you've got going on.

I'm like a lost snail in the night.

Well I recorded some live shows with tanya last August that seemed pretty good. Don't know what the release plan is though.
The moves are all natural. Just going on instinct.

Couldn't tell you, I've never checked. You don't ever need to learn exactly how someone plays something, just the general gist of it. More important to develop your onw style.

Well, I've never been offered a job that payed so extravavgantly that it would be just for the money. Ususally it's because it's someone I'm interested in working with or it's something different than I've done before, so I'll learn something new.

Have to say haven't spoken to either for a while. Don't really know.

Touring answer 1st. Good chance I'll be in the Northeast mid summer with Thad Cockrell & Caitlin Cary, but that's not deinite yet. I also go out sometimes with my friends Last Train Home so there's always a chance I'll be with them.
Who'd I like to collaborate with....hmmmmmm lots of people it'dd be fun to work with, Iggy Pop, Ornette Coleman, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Gene Pitney, The Neptunes, hard to say just one.

Are you going to be playing with Jen Jones down on Lower Broad at the Bluegrass Inn for a little while longer? I haven't been able to catch one of those shows yet.

Yep I'm doing the Bluegrass Inn with Jen Jones every Wed when I'm in town. Mostly honky tonk classic country kind of stuff.

Hmmm kindof like playing all of them. I'm probably most comfortable on regular old 6 string guitar, just because I've played it the longest. I'll try playing anything though.

The vans acceration pedal getting stuck and speeding up uncontrollably while we were driving downhill across the mountains of Northern California was a good one.

I would like to ask you what's your favourite band these days?

how do I post a pic?

- Frank Black 04/22/2005

Can't say I have one, but I've never really been a favorite kind of guy. Saw Calexico a couple of weeks ago and there were fantastic. There's also a great band here in nashville called The Black Diamond Heavies that I just saw and really liked. Seems like there's always something interesting around, you just have to look a bit sometimes.
