Posted - 01/16/2005 : 15:22:49 dont know if this has been mentioned before (cant find anything via the search) - I was flicking thru the tv channels earlier and caught the end credits to the Powerpuff girls movie, waited on to listen to Pray for the girls (had it on my pc for ages now but i love the song) and 2 things came to mind -
1) the song sounds slightly different to the soundtrack album version. I cant put my finger on all the aspects though I do recall that in the last quarter of the song, the vocals seem louder, i dont know, am i going mad ?
2) the titles say "Written and Performed by Frank Black" - shouldnt it say "Written by Frank Black, Performed by Frank Black and the Catholics" ?

When we mixed the track into the credits, we just mixed the entire song as a whole, we didn't have the track and the vocals seperate. As far as it sounding different I guess that could be chalked up the the overall mix levels being different in the film than on the soundtrack, But I do know for a fact that the vocals and track we not seperated.

The Catholics did play on the track, I believe it was recorded at Sound Studio and it was during the "Dog in the Sand" sessions. Listing the track as Frank Black was a Rhino decision, but if you look at the band credits on the CD you'll see that it credited as Frank Black and the Catholics and all the members are given credit as well.
Hope that shines a little light on the subject.

Posted - 01/17/2005 : 15:50:17 This makes me sad, it's as if the Catholics are fading in the background and the past, while he moves forward. I will follow him wherever he goes next, and I will do so happily, but I will always wish for the Catholics to rise again!
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank |
