Would anyone recommend watching the movie on mute with the Live recording synched up instead? As an experiment maybe..

The Golem has unleashed his wrath onto the island of Niue! Got the package yesterday but the caretaker didn't give it to me until this morning. And now I have to wait until I get back home to see if I have the dreaded #15...

What he said. Anyone in Canada got it yet? Not trying to be impatient, just curious as to how much delay comes from simply crossing the border.
That and I am impatient, of course.
------------------ Nothing is ever something.
Maybe they are watching it first at the border to make sure there isn't any anti-olympic views contained within. either that or lesbian porn.
maybe there will be sudden increase in the amount of border guards listening to the man's work...

I used to get one particular magazine previously read! It would have creases at the spine and was always late. Sometimes two issues would come on the same day, or an issue every couple of days. |

Reminds me of a story he once told about getting stopped at the Mexican border years ago, during the Pixies days. They were being pretty tough on him about some stuff he was bringing back into the U.S. ... until one of the guards recognized him from MTV. Then they all asked for his autograph and sent him on his way.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Not yet, but I dont believe it will come out for a while, considering it will probably be released on a label like cooking vinyl, who wont want to release an album within months of Nonstoperotik. Maybe it'll be around towards the end of the year. The songs will be floating around though if you havent bought the boxset |

Der Golem has arrived in Belgium today! It fell into my mailbox just a minute ago. Booya!
This is very exciting, but I have to leave for work in a minute. :/
it's educational |

there's definitely a lot to digest here. i'm tempted to whittle it down to the main songs just to get familiar with them. then i wouldn't have to check the tracklist to see what theme/preview is currently playing.
this fits on a single cd
01. Little Stars Theme 02. Bad News 03. Astaroth 04. The Maharal 05. Miriam and Florian 06. Stars 07. The Conjuring 08. The Word 09. The Obedient Servant 10. Makanujo 11. Meet Me at the Ghetto Gates 12. Custom All the Way 13. You're Gonna Pay) 14. (Oh How I Wish I Could) Stay 15. The Flower Song
*16. The Golem's Theme (Version 5) * Hidden Track
this may be frowned upon but I think it's fun. I didn't take things out of order until the end and with the exception of the first track I excluded all other themes and versions. It stays true for the most part and as of right now (listening to track 5) this little (not really) edited version absolutely rocks and helps me hear the meat and potatoes of it as an album.
"it's like custom all the way"
on a second cd the gravy
01. Stars Theme 02. Miriam and Florian Theme (Version 1) 03. Makanujo (Preview) 04. Astaroth (Reprise) 05. Miriam and Florian Theme (Version 2) 06. Golem's Theme (Version 1) 07. Miriam and Florian Theme (Version 3) 08. The Maharal (Reprise) 09. Golem's Theme (Version 2) 10. The Flower Song (Preview) 11. Golem's Theme (Version 3) 12. Miriam and Florian Theme (Version 4) 13. Golem's Theme (Version 4) 14. The Word (Reprise) 15. Makanujo (Reprise) 16. (Oh How I Wish I Could) Stay (Reprise) 17. The Obedient Servant (Reprise)
I feel a little guilty having had Der Golem in my possession now for the better part of a week when others are just getting theirs but my splitting of the tracks onto two separate cds does have a point.
great songs
beautiful music
Der Golem is quite comforting

Here is a rundown of pieces that are on the dvd soundtrack that were left off the Studio discs. They're not just shorter versions but different pieces altogether. I'll be posting a link to audio rips of them here for anyone interested once my Golem book arrives (still waiting!)
Youtube track no. 3. Interlude [15secs] 5. Bad News Theme [30secs] 10. Obedient Servant Theme [1min22] 13. Makanujo Theme [47secs] 22. The Word Theme [1min46] 25. Golem's Theme (Version 6) [25secs]

you know that dramatic chipmunk thing on youtube? that one riff in the "little stars theme" works well with that. Early in the morning at my girlfriend's house I looked towards her bedroom door and her cat's silhouette was there - waiting for breakfast - looking rather ominous - and I heard that "little stars theme" riff |

Hmm, there are still 85 of these things left after 2 wks? I would have thought they would have been snatched up like hot cakes. I don't feel so bad about accidentally destroying the paper wrapping when I opened the book. It may not ever be worth anything anyway. |

I've had the Word stuck in my head today, great song. I'm really liking the golem so far, even though all i've had to go by is the youtube clips since i can't afford the boxset. Anyone else have the feeling that this could be a classic like Frank Black, Teenager of the Year, Dog in the Sand, and Bluefinger? Or if not a classic, in the really solid territory of Black Letter Days, or Show Me Your Tears?
I'm having a real crisis over whether to get the boxset, its just 100 dollars canadian plus shipping is so much for a student... |

I prefer the reprise (though I love the official song). It's slower and softer -- which I've finally figured out is how I like my Frank. The more mellow, the better.

Over time, I think you would regret "not getting it" more, than paying $100 and buying it now. Just my thoughts...

in a way I'm not surprised. Experts say there are as few as 300 die hard uber Frank fans in the wild most of which can't be confirmed. A tag and release program is in the works in hopes of getting a more accurate count of these rare creatures. |

I think there are more than 85 left my order today was 1346 - i think people are getting that number from looking at the number in the book, when the number of the book you get is random, not the number you ordered it in |

I think we ought to make an effort to account for every copy. There are so few of these it would be easy to have a locked thread with a short profile of each owner and their number. That way, years from now, when I say something asinine you can say "that's just ol' 49. He's a real asshole."
btw, I have one of the rare, non-defective copies.

well ol' 49 would probably have a split personality, like say ol' 230 and maybe even something in the single digits. |

I'm sure as hell the only one I know personally, even after years of trying to get the word out to as many people as possible... My girlfriend likes him since I played Honeycomb for her one of the first nights we hung out. Unfortunately, I don't think she gets him if he isn't crooning to country flavors. You're Gonna Pay confused her a little... "Why is he screaming like that?" *smack forehead*
There has to be some kind of theoretical fractal calculus that can explain the paradox of better the music=fewer the fans.
I too thought those things would have been gone in a day or two tops. Where the fuck are all these "Pixies fans"? Ah Whatever. I just hate to see a musician of this caliber and literally world renowned fame and respect be mostly ignored unless he's doing a fucking reunion pay-the-bills-tour with his old band from the late 80's.
I'll mash your perfect parts. |

woah, two #15s! does this mean it's really a limited edition of 501? or does it just make the second #15 even more rare?
anyone come up with a tracklist for the live discs yet btw? |
