Terrific video! Thanks so much Dean and Sean! Frank is such a real down to earth person, it surprises and delights me every time. Everyone seemed much more calm cool and collected than I could have ever pulled off!
So glad you seem to have had such a great time there, Dean and all (NYC)! |

Very, very, very cool. Thanks Dean! So am I to assume that's the end of the backstage videos? One more question: everyone is clapping right as the video starts. It looks a little weird because Frank is just sitting there. Did you guys give him an ovation or something before you got going?
If you really want to know, look in the Frank |

Actually, we were clapping for Sean as FB has just asked "Who organized this?" I had turned the camera sideways to facilitate my own applause and it was shaky, so I cut it in as the camera righted itself.
When he came in we all clapped and he walked down the length of the room and shook hands, then made a joke that since it was a long line of us on either side, he should just run with his hands out and do high fives. Then he did that. It was quite funny.
The video is edited together out of sequence just 'cause it flowed better in some cases. The actual backstage session was about 20 mins, all of which is obviously not there, unfortunately.

Thanks!
However, I can't see fuck-all (my favorite expression, by the way). I've tried both links but when the movie plays, I get nothing.
Any suggestions for a Mac user? Thanks.
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank |

kathryn, I was getting some serious audio problems with only DivX (plays through Quicktime - they have no DivX player for Mac yet, even though the dl link says it includes a DivX player it was lying) so I had to install this www.3ivx.com (free, you have to install both the os X and os 9 versions),
and then install this DivX Doctor - http://doctor.3ivx.com
then I used DivX Doctor to convert the AVI file. Not sure if it was the best way to go about it, but it was fast and it worked. |

Dean, if we go back in time can I trade you my night of intimate solo Frank at Zuzu's for your backstage pass?
I shook his hand and drank beer that night! Come on!
Will I ever reach 1000?

This may not be the last such event, though it will depend on when/where the Pixies go after their August gig. I haven't gotten around to compressing those videos, but I've been trying to write up a blogumentary about my New York trip. I may post them on Christmas Day as my gift to all of you.

Yeah, you got it Jop. She basically said that he was a trend setter, musically, with food, and it was only a matter of time before someone through in El Nino. :)
That moment was my favourite part of the backstage thing, so cute, and he had such a big smile.

I have to say this video is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing it. CT's the coolest. Took his time, kept the conversation going and all, made a real effort for his fans. To Daisy Girl I want to say this: I think the hummus thing was totally cute and you shoud feel good about yourself for making Frank laugh like that (in a relaxed way). Just remember how many times he made you smile listening to his music and how many times he made you laught reading his interviews. Is there a better way to repay a person for all the good moments than by making him laugh (if only for a second)? Lucky you.

Hehe Skatealex.
ElevatorLady, thank you for such and insightful comment. Truly thanks for putting it into perspective and making all those goofy things I wish I could do over and helping me focus on what is important... Frank Black and giving back even a little of all he has given us. Thanks so much! |

hmmm...i'm only getting the audio portion, no video. ?
anyhow, i think all this talk of meeting frank back stage seeped into my unconscious dream world. this morning, i had a dream that i was at this huge stadium pixies concert. frank and kim were there, but no joey or dave (actually, i think the rest of the band were women??? can't remember) in between sets, i snuck back stage...there was a guy from frankblack.net there waiting in the wings (i have no idea who), and i saw frank holding his little boy, a two year old cutie. i asked frank for a hug and cradled him in my arms like an old friend (very innocent) and we chatted a bit. then my alarm went off! :) that's the closest i'll ever get (ps. he was very cool and down to earth even in my dream! haha). |
