Terrific stuff! Thank you for posting.
Loved the new song.
So great to hear some of those oldies, especially L.A. |

Loved hearing solo/Catholics tunes again. Digging the new song as well. Anyone think this is a new Pixies track, or could he be saving it for something else? |

Honestly, I hope it isn't a new Pixies track. It's so simplistic and although the guitar lick is catchy enough I'm really hoping he is digging deeper for Pixies material. This sounds like something made for Fastman Raiderman.
It was cool to see that live stream of this performance though, happy to see the man out playing. Did hope to hear a more obviously Pixies demo, but no dice. |

Would be cool to see him close a Pixies show with Broken Face like he did here. Goodnight.
And I agree with you natenate101, hoping Please Don't Go is for some non-Pixies something. |

Would consider that Please Don't Go song better than a lot of the new Pixies songs. Love it. Reminds me of a Paul Westerberg / Grandpaboy song. |

Me too. Hoping for more of these.
I don't think it would be oversaturating the market to sprinkle in solo FBF shows in between 2.0 tours. |

Hey friends, I just discovered Please Don't Go yesterday here and am just so excited about a new Frank song that to me sounds a lot like a Catholics ballad...all soulful and deceptively simple and leaning more towards a sad feeling than his Pixies or pre-Catholics solo work. There's just something really special about the non-Pixies stuff...listened to this 5 times already.
Anyway I made an mp3 from that youtube video. I did very minor EQing (lowered the mud, upped a tiny bit where his vocal about sits) and cut off Six Sixty Six at the end.
Hope this file site is ok, never used it before:

And what a difference between how he constantly interacts with the crowd here and how he doesn't even acknowledges the crowds existence when he is 2.0-ing. |

Bedbug, I think of that all the time when I watch old Frank shows. I love his stage presence and found it really inspiring and helped me with my own stage presence. Relax and interact with the crowd! It makes you feel closer to them and the audience feel part of the show. |

You're absolutely right. He comes across as someone you would love to hang out with. He seems so relaxed and human. Best dude ever. |

Can't agree more. First time I saw him was acoustic at an intimate venue with an absolutely shitty guitar then still delivered one hell of a show.
Before this I just considered music as some kind of pure magic, after I started to realize it was magic I could make a bit mine if I'd even find a way, and of course even if Black's talent completely is kind of out of this world. |

I agree with the comments about seeing him in these tiny venues. I’ve had the pleasure of attending two of these, one at a venue my own band had played at before, standing about 6 feet away from him both times. Just such a spectacular experience. Both times at very very unpretentious places, dirt cheap tickets, and both times he was with Reid Paley, also an awesome dude.
I had also seen the Catholics years back in a small (but not quite as small) venue in California called, I think, the Belly Up Tavern. In all 3 cases, Charles came out and mingled a bit after the show. Always hauling his own gear. One thing I noticed when I shook his hand years ago was that he had a working man’s hands, like a mechanic. This was during the prime Catholics years. Hard gigging, schleping gear, night after night - a real musician’s musician.
If he does one of these intimate shows in your neck of the woods, I strongly recommend making every attempt to get there.
I had a bad reaction to your public hobby writings. |

Even in early (80s) Pixies shows Frank seems relaxed and chill and interacting with the crowd.
When I saw them in 92 I thought it was kind of strange that he didn't say anything to the crowd other than "good night."
The last solo show I saw him at he was just out in front of the venue before the show walking down to the bodega. |
