Look what popped up today! Interview with the band by RS, along with live performances of Planet of Sound and new song Um Chagga Lagga! Along with some interesting tidbits about new album, new producer, and definitely Black's best response yet about Kim Deal not being in the band anymore. Check it out!

What a treat!

A great interview and 2 great performances. Well done Rolling Stone and well done the Pixies.

Joey really showed off how he can elevate a Frank Black song right there. A few tweaks and I think he's got it. It's jumped a whole star right there for me. Joey you beast.

Really enjoyed that. This lineup slays when playing acoustic. Interview was interesting and more talk of the new stuff. Awesome.

And Nacho Libre rules. "Get that corn outta my face!"

Me likey likey likey. I was thinking Um Chagga Lagga was feeling a big Boom Chicka Boom or Build High on the You Tube clip. But on this vid I'm hearing Santo.

Agree the vibe between the four of them is looking very tight. Like a proper group on the upward cycle.

Planet of sound works great acoustic as well!

That was great, and Paz looks totally integrated - as if she's always been there. I'm inclined to think the next album might be the return as it should've been. Indie Cindy was fine but flawed & not really Pixies to me. This is Pixies.

Um Chagga rules. They also look cool as hell in the Rolling Stone video. I am a little mad that Joey didn't want to do the new new song though... lol!

Now where's Classic Masher?

Don't know, I'm not mad about white American guys playing mexicans. That said, I loved Casa De Mi Padre. I'll give it a try.

I beg to differ

This acoustic version of Um Chagga Lagga is twice better than the electric version on YouTube
But still, it lacks tension (Subbacultcha is a classic, much rawer in its simplicity for instance), it's too prosaic, repetitive in its lyrics (à la Blue Eyed Hexe...).

And Joey's work clearly adds to the song, but I don't adhere fully to this rather mellow sound.

From what I've heard of Super Lecker, it's more of a dancey tune than an indie-rock gem (or even a pop gem like Classic Masher)

Looking forward to "Down to Tulom"

One thing is for sure, the band is having fun, and they're very professional during this tour (very tight drumming, no miss by Joey, great singing by both...)

The subtleties of BF's vocals here are what makes it for me. His intonations and playfulness take the demo and make it more intriguing. Paz's vocals also add to it. She ain't Kim but she sounds good here.

Its odd because I feel like their acoustic performances with Paz might show that they sound better that way at times. I wouldn't mind a release in the future with both acoustic and electric takes on the songs.

The idea of the new stuff being tied together by a common thread, The French porn thing, sounds promising to me.

Anyone want to take a stab at the lyrics?

Well I'm headed South, but kinda West
Up around the bend, with like one more breath
Ahh, Standing stall in the rows of corn
That's ____________, 10 in the morn (sounds like Cora Pearl, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cora_Pearl)
Come on

Um Chagga Lagga on the side of the road
Um Chagga Lagga in the Langueduc

Cause that crazy stuff got in my brain

Um Chagga Lagga on the side of the road

Sounds a little similar to Isla De Encanta to my ears, has all the makings of a nice Pixies number.

I know we won't agree on this Denis
But to my ears, Blue Eyed Hexe has one of the best verses on IC, and one of the worst choruses (except for Toe)
Similar feeling with Lagga

Just hope the next album won't be full of tracks we've already heard in demo or in another way (like Chagga, Cloud, Masher,...). Would spoil the surprise.

They look cool as hell in the video.

I haven't quite decided on whether I like the song or not yet, but damn, the Pixies are back. I think there's great stuff on the way.

They really do look cool and at ease in this. It's wonderful to see.
I agree that there should be some memorable stuff on the way.
I dig the song a lot, mostly because it's catchy and I find myself singing it during the day. Might have to give it a rest soon though. Reaction on social media seems positive.

Yup. I'd love to hear a more electric version, though. The Pixies, while good acoustic, aren't the same without their amps. Especially Joey.

Um Chagga Lagga was my least liked track off of the Super Lecker EP that we received. One of those songs that never really goes anywhere for me. It is okay but doesn't touch the great songs off of Indie Cindy.

O'Little Cloud and When the Wolves Come Out I like much more and would assume both of those tracks will also get a treatment as well. I would love to finally receive a proper version of Classic Masher as it is brilliant. I always thought Dead Man's Curve should have been a Pixies song too.

Um Chagga Lagga is OK but would be a lot better without those grating "they're coming to get me" and "you could get used to it" lines.

That's odd, I quite like those parts. The wording in the verses works as well, but the track could use a larger break from the main tempo/riff. The acoustic version allows BF to throw some personality on the performance. That's very much needed. More please .

Anyone figure out the lyrics I couldn't decipher?

It was my favorite of the 3, then Wolves although the lyrics are too simple. Cloud, I don't know, it's boring.

Dead Man's Curve has never sounded all that interesting to me. Kinda meh, though I can see why people would like it. I'd like something like Cinema Star or Lake of sin.
