Neco Z Alenky aka Jan Svankmajer's Alice

I saw the most creepy and fantastic version of Alice In Wonderland last night. I can't even describe it. Here is a concise synopsis by Lori S. from www.imdb.com. I HIGHLY recommend seeing it.

A mix of live action and stop-action, this arthouse flick is intriguing but bizarre. But if I was a little kid I'd be scared out of my wits by The White Rabbit with bulging glass eyeballs & long, hamster-like fangs. Socks become wood-eating worms, Alice starts eating marmalade full of tacks, a tiny mouse lands on her head, punctures it & starts a fire, the rabbit hole she falls down starts as a desk drawer that grabs her & draws her in. The Alice doll she becomes when she's shrunk is sweet but sad. I have to admit it's fascinating and 180 degrees from the saccharine sweetness of the Disney film. See it on video to experience something completely different, and probably more towards the way Lewis Carroll intended the story to be...

Inna zany combination of Wayne's Pet Youngin'!

I agree it is a great and perfectly weird film. Wonderful animation, and the sensibilities are a lot like my own, which is I guess why a friend of mine in high school told me I would love it back in I think it was 1988? I just finally bought the DVD for SpudBoy's birthday a month ago, and we watched it and really enjoyed it. It is hard to describe properly, but it is like fever dreams, with a child's mature fantastical perception of human violence and death and the irrational adult world...which is exactly like the book, but not, ahhhh nevermind hahaha. I want to see it again!

TarTar, have you played American McGee's Alice? That's what I thought this topic was about...

Be warned: It's boring as fuck. Watch it only if you are under the influence.

The animation is good and there are some clever sequences, but overall everything takes WAY too long to develop. I might say it's a good film, but I don't think it's entertaining. It's one of those art movies that you force yourself to finish watching simply to test your intellectual endurance.
