Was thinking about the weird nicknames I call people in my life and wondering if you all do that as well? For example, I call my cat "bunny" (I have no idea why) and my best friends 6 year old son has always been "baby" and also "boogaloo". I have no clue where these come from but they always seem to stick.
So, what nicknames do y'all use in your life? If any.

The nicknames I use for friends are usually derivative of their name, like my friend Travis is T-Bone, my friend John Loughead is J-Lo. Then there's the friends that I refer to by their last names since they are a lot more distinct than their first, such as Jason Hofacker, he's always just Hofacker. And Jason Ciluffo is just Ciluffo (pronounced Sil-oo-fo). See, they're both Jason's, might as well call them by their cool last names. Travis used to call Ciluffo "Chalupa," and Ciluffo always has fun with the last name of Travis, which is Willey. So many Willey jokes have been made.

Ok - I'm out for the weekend in 10 minutes. Last post from me at least for two days. promise.
My son is "boogerz" short for 'Boogerz McSnot' which I named him when he was being aspirated in the delivery room...he was born caesarian - they don't get 'wrung out' like vag babies do. He gets called all kinds of 'dad' style shit - depending upon how i feel..mr snotty boy...chocomouth...whatever happens to be involved in the moment. You guys have seen pics. He's the cutest fucking kid on the planet.
My cat is usually "fuckin dumbass" because he's an inbred male tabby and he's a retard - falls off the porch and shit.
My 74 VW Transporter is "you old bitch" - especially when i'm climbing a hill.
Good night. I'm going to go drink now.

Since my name is Peter, I'm often called P-Diddy.
Sorry, Ramona, I just can't think of any nicknames where the origin is unknown.

my friends and i have a long history of nicknames. inexplicable, inappropriate, insulting.. you name it.
inexplicable:
Sweet Tits (somehow we started calling this guy that and it stuck) Apple (for some reason i started calling a friend of mine Apple, and he started calling me Bart.. that went on for years)
inappropriate (and/or insulting):
Trollie (this girl who looked like a troll) Tiltie (this guy who always tilted his head to the side while talking; "here comes old Tiltie") Limpie (this girl who broke her leg and walked around with a huge cast for a while. yes, i'm going to hell)
all time classic:
Special Ed (what i call my friend Ed. because he's special)

My family has such a convoluted history of nicknames that I couldn't begin to catalogue them all. We have multiple names for our many many cats too.

I have guys at work I call Bev (real name Paul), Dr Pitman, Dunners, Lickers, Fonters and Rilo, but these are all based on their names.
The best one is Beckie at work who we call Feral, cos she looks like a feral child.
A friend of Dr Pitman's has the nickname Big Red, which I think is particularly nice. It's basically because he's big and red, but it doesn't stop me woo-hooing every time he's mentioned.
So, I finally got my X-Wing |

Not really a nickname fan. I get called derivatives of my name (Isaac Burwell) often, so get Sac, Big-Sac’s, Osama-bin-Burwell and the perennial favourite…I Suck Balls Well.
Friends: Andrew De Joux: Wandering Hands De Joux – cause caught him on camera having a good old grope….. Sarah Lomas: Masty – goes something like this: S Lomas..slomas…slowmasty…masty Julie Jopp: Spit-roast – after one of her favourite pastimes. My Wife: Nugs’ or Nuggey – a nickname she’s had for pretty much her entire life – is based on a car somehow. Shelley: the destroyer – cause she’s got forearms like Arnie
Family: Naomi: Nomes...but i think all people called naomi get called this.. Damon: Dickman...he doesn't like that much tho.
Pets: Our cat George (may he rest in peace) got called Bogan for some totally unknown reason…

heh, I have loads of nick names for various friends, some have reasons though..
Tom: Clown (because he fell asleep and we painted a clown face on him about 6 years ago!)
Tom Sib: Squigley, Nimrod, Sibs, Tiny T...
Ben: The Destroyer, Langley, Grenade
Gary : Mr Tidy (because he was so accident prone)
Alex: Short Stacks
Mark: Cone
Graham: Grae-J
Peter: Humphrey (cos he is so moody)
Kellie: Cheese (she was a whore, and something went about saying she smelt of cheese...lol)
Owen: Calf ( i have no fucking idea where this is from!)
Nathan: Bob (why not?!)
Thats all I can think of for now. Oh, my Boyfriend I call Badger. cos he acts all sweet and lovely, but at night hes vicious! haha.
God forbid I exude confidence and enjoy sex |

At my office I invented some nicknames this summer. I translated the Dutch family names into English. Most of the colleages found it rather silly, but actually now they are using these "nicknames" themselves too. So the first name is still the same, only the family name has changed from Dutch to English. some examples here at my department
Peter Wild Hiddo Show-Off (that`s me) Micha from Character Ralph Plougher Balti Tcenturies Suzanne The Frost Maarten Trickstra Henk Higher Harriet Wildmountain Frank Fooljers Ed West Hakan Sealick Eveline Emperor Frank Goodbrother Helma Pooringfield Edo Sleighnolesosen Cor the Young One Ruud from Upfront Hans from the Team Mohammed Finshed-a-tie Jaap Rough Jos Eastman Jan Kees With Fat
and on and on goed the list It is probably not that funny for you guys, when you are English Native.

The nicknames we use here do have reason, they're like an evolution of the nickname we originally used.
My daughter has ended up with tons but it stuck on Pooge. Some people call me Line. I have a friend we call Omenay. And another we call Lingers.

My dad's nickname for me was Boogaloo....
Some sort of Jig I think.
Also I had the nickname Spidermonkey, because I used to climb trees ...but unfortunetly Spidermonkeys are known for something else.
My favorite was the Braless wonder...those were my Barbados beach bum days. |
