Ok I need help and as per usual you intelligent folk are my only....answer. I went to purchase a digital camera today I was set to spend around £180 but the guy at the store said to pay an extra £20 and get this http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/digimg/intro.cfm?id=%B5%5Bmju%3A%5D%20300%20Digital camera it comes with a case and an extra 64mb card (ontop of the 16mb provided) so a bunch of stuff happened and I ended up not buying it. Now my question is how long will I be able to film short movies for? On my previous camera which didnt have memory cards and was some cheap thing it filmed for aslong as I liked and I kinda want to be able to record for atleast two minutes with my new one. So far I've been unable to find anywhere that states how long it will do it for. Can anyone help?

You might want to try this site:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html

You won't find more complete reviews anywhere.

Best site EVER.......all the info you will ever need, there is a message board on it too!

G0d I love Steve's almost as much as I love the Pixies!

I have a Minolta F200 (F100/300 in the US on Steves) and I can film for as long as there is space on the card, 5 mins 128 card.

I have a Canon Powershot S400 Digital Elf. Ixus S400 over your way I think. It's a great 4 megapixel but I think it's limited to 90 sec vids. I think most are. And I have heard good things about the Olympus cameras as well, but I love Canons.

The Elvis Costello board has a topic up about this right now as well, a lot of good opinions there. It's in "the annex".

I have a Canon G5 powershot. I like it. It's 5 megapixel. I'm working on a website to post the good pictures I've taken with it. I've noticed it doesn't seem like a good "action shot" camera. Or maybe I just haven't perfected it yet. I doubt you'd get this exact camera, but the brand.. Canon, is good.

I got a Fuji S5000. It got very good reviews on http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/fuji_s5000.html - video as much as there is space on your card. I love that camera - the Fuji color sw is much better than on my Canon.

Plus, you can use regular and rechargeable AA batteries, vs having to buy proprietary batteries (that's usually where you get kicked in the nuts, $40 each for Canon PowerShot S10, my last digital camera).

We have a sony cybershot 3.2 mp. The video lasts up until there is memory which is usually 3-5 minutes... but it totally drains your battery.

It's ok but I still like film cameras better.
