So what is everyone upto this weekend?
I am going to log off now and watch two films I hired out. Identity and Thirteen. Anyone seen them?
Tomorrow I am going to my mate's flat in town to burn my CD's for the CD compilation swap game that Benji started. And tomorrow night I am going to a house party with Bumblebeeboy2, two doors down from his flat to see Nine Black Alps (the just signed band that I have predicted great things for) and 4 other bands. If they end up as big as I predict then this should be one legendary night.
Boy am I bigging this band up. Ignore me, they're shit!

Identity is a cool flick, especially the first time you see it. I won't give anything away, but it is quite the mindfuck.
Thirteen is good too, in a social-commentary indie-flick kind of way...it is disturbing without being overtly graphic, which I respected.

Tomorrow: kid's soccer, run a few miles
Sunday: no idea yet, oh yeah the NFL starts on Sunday (my wife will love that) |

I don't see too many movies, but I saw those two. Identity is strange, cool. Thirteen... mmmmm... Could have been better, but deserves to dedicate two hours to it. If you don't have nothing better to do.
Happy weekend everybody!!!

Today I'm making gazpacho. Tonight, we're making fried catfish, cornbread, hush puppies, corn on the cob and seventop or turnip greens for dinner. Tomorrow going to some galleries or something, and maybe out to eat at a Cambodian/Mexican restaurant (yeah, who woulda thunk it?) - I wonder if they make Cambodian quesadillas?
Rest of the weekend probably some more canning, chores and yardwork, clean the pool, and hopefully make some art.

I wrote about what I am doing on http://boston.metblogs.com - basically a bunch of events in my little town.
Tonight I am going to get a pedicure and look for some new books and cd's.

WOW! What a cool variety!
We here at fb.net lead more interesting lives than the amount of time we spend here would suggest.
Let us know how it all goes guys.
FYI I just finished watching Thirteen, and I was very impressed. Some fine acting in that film. Also, there is a song played straight after the end credits begin to roll, and it is fantastic. It's a woman singing but I have no idea who it is. Any idea guys? (those of you that have seen it).
Anyway, I am off to watch Identity in a mo. Catch you later.

Kay, traditional Friday night in the pub, though I'm glad I managed to drag myself home at some point today. Tomorrow, dunno really. Chilling and illing, no doubt. I got some DVD's cheap the other week, so I'll watch one of them: Deer Hunter, Chinatown or Once Upon A Time In America.
So, I finally got my X-Wing |

Looks like the "US is fucked-up film festival".
Trying to think what films should be added, but drawing a blank. Malcolm X? Bowling for Columbine? I got it, Glory with the black civil war soliders being sent into a hopeless battle. |

American History X was on TV the other day. Flawed, but horribly disturbing.
My boss lent me Johnny Mnemonic on the promise that its a great film. I'm not sure where that fits into your festival.

Friday Night: Went to a ska show. Yeah, I don't care for ska really, but it was a good time dancing it the pit.
Saturday: Spending the day in New York, walking around Central Park taking pictures and trying to find some used CD stores.
Sunday: Recording. My band is taking a stab at finishing our first EP. With any luck we'll be done with it all within a month.

Friday night we watched US open tennis after a long day at work.
Saturday morning I'll take my cats for a walk outside, it's been a busy week and they're starved for some attention. Later I'm taking my sister's kids for a movie and something to eat. Swimming somewhere in the day too.
Sunday I'll start reading Pynchon. I've got Crying Of Lot 49 coming up first.

Taking your cats for a walk? Surely this ain't right. But then, your cats are evil, so maybe they'd kill you if you didn't...

Which one is Identity? Who's in that?
I saw Thirteen awhile back and liked it, it was so painful though. I had a single mom and while it wasn't quite THAT extreame, I related to a lot of it.
Last night I watched some of the final season of Sex and the City and also did some shopping after work. Didn't get a pedicure, but I did get a lovely new fall bag. And some new CD's.
Soon I will shower and run off to my town events. Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Simon, I keep the kitties indoor to save the town from their evil. When I let them out they have to supervised so I call that "walking the cats"
My Saturday plans have gone for a loop. My partner has to work so I'm plodding around at home all day.
Thirteen was good. Holly Hunter has the knack to make me feel very sad for the characters she does. The Piano, Crash, Broadcast News, Thirteen.........

The exhibition is part of uber caberet in my city, uber caberet (my oldest friends platform) is a strange event combining live music, performance art, spoken word and the like, it takes place in uber cool custard factory in birmingham, there's been about five and this time Uber Jon wants me to put my pictures in it, I think they suck so I have always refused but the devious little minx has already put me on the flier so I can't refuse, 'cos I work in hospitals most of the pictures are pretty medical, close ups of instruments from quite odd angles, sometimes they look shapely and innocent and sometimes they look pretty twisted (not always clean instruments) and the rest of the pictures are sinister ones of ordinary objects, If I mend my scanner I'll put some up after the move, but I think they're pretty mediocre myself. The caberet itself can be a disturbing affair (my friend has been known to sew his face together and ram needles in places) and alot of people take refuge in the medicine bar, this time no escape 'cos there will be big blown up evil tre photo's of sinister speculums and reamers and the like!.
Seafood Gumbo 1 tbsp plain flour 1 tsp paprika olive oil 12 oz monkfish 125g Prawns Green Pepper Okra Onions Celery (tin!) chopped tomatoes 1 pint vegetable stock 2 garlic cloves bouqet garnie-thingy (sp??) 1 lemon tobasco sauce worcester sauce
Chop monkfish chunky like, heat oil in pan, mix flour and paprika and use it to coat monkfish, fry off monkfish till brown on all sides and remove from pan, put chopped onion, celery, pepper okra crushed and garlic in the pan and fry for five minutes (or untill they are softish) add vegetable stock, bouqet garnie-thing and tinned tomatoes bring to boil then allow to simmer for 15 mins, remove bouquet add the monkfish prawns, juice of one lemon as much tobasco and worcester sauce as you like, heat for 5 more minutes and it's ready
Thats how I remember making it but I was under the influence

Mmmm. Thank you, it sounds gooood! What herbs are in the bouquet garnier? Have you tried bottled clam juice in place of vegetable stock? Sounds a little off maybe, but it really does a nice trick in gumbo and shrimp (prawn) or crawdad etouffe.
The Uber Cabaret sounds like fucking blast. I'm green with envy. I'd love to see your photos.

oooh.. I'll have a look round the fish markets, I'm moving in with a girl who is a non principled vegetarian, she doesn't like the taste of meat but does like fish, I'm having to learn me a load of new recipes, I have a good founding though as my ex's favourite food was seafood so I learned a lot due to the art of courting.
Here's a couple of the shots taken at shows (not by me) and a link, It's vaguely based around the pagan calender, imbol, lammas and the like, it's both spiritual and totally fucked, Jon is going to go very far with this, I've known him since we were young and he's destined for big things, he practically sparks when he walks he's buzzing with ideas..

I'll take the pics down in a bit (bound to slow the page down) and as soon as I get mine scanned in I'll post you a link

Cheers, lady. This looks right up our alley! You friend sounds like a very cool chap, even if a bit self-mutilation obsessed .
Reminds me of a show that's been going here for years called the Jim Rose Circus, but it is not nearly as big or fully-developed as the Uber Cabaret looks to be. http://www.ambient.ca/jimrose/ http://www.jimrosecircus.com/ |

Offerw - I love that you walk your cats - my mom does the same with hers & her great danes - it looks insane!
ObsufcateByWill - sorry your weekend sounds like it's a tough one.
For the weekend - so far got drunk last night, finished reading Motley Crue - The Dirt (true trash rock and roll), gone underwear shopping, scored some fine weed and convinced my husband that I'm getting a tattoo.
I think I may be going through some weird early onset midlife crisis.
Tomorrow I'll be the picture of domesticity and roast my man some chicken. |

I'll probably end up spending all of today on the Internet.

I spent the morning getting in an argument with one of the parents at my daughters soccer game. I'm the coach. Ahhh, good times. I ended up telling him he was "being an asshole to me". He was, but I shouldn't have said it. Fortunately, I don't think the players saw it. |

So, now that I'm laid up and on Cipro (really messin' me up), we have a few movies to watch. Two Kurosawa movies: Dodeska-den and Kagemusha, Chinese Connection (Bruce Lee), Room Service (Marx Brothers), and Kill Bill Vol.2.
Guess we'll have to check if that restaurant has Cambodian quesadillas some other day. |

Last night I got so torn that I blacked out and (apparently) fell down while pissing in my friend's front yard. They had to carry me inside and throw me on the couch. I have really fuzzy memories of somebody taking my shoes off for me. Somehow I managed to keep my lighter through it all. |
