I posted this same review at the pixiesmusic message board. It a little long so sorry about that .............
What an amazing show last night in Bend! The night before the show I could barely sleep because I was so excited for the show.
My brother and me got to the venue at 5:30, about an hour before the show started. The venue is by a shopping center and you have to cross a bridge on foot to get to the venue. As we are walking to the venue David Lovering passes us! I shout out, “Hey Dave!” He stopped and I told him what an honor it was to meet him and that I was so happy that the band got back together. Then I asked if he had any information about tonight’s set list. He said they haven’t made the set yet, but he said it would be a long set tonight. I told him that they should play “Into the White” and Dave said they might at the end. Then I shook his hand again and told him again what an honor it was to meet him. Dave then ask my name and I told him it was Joe and he said it was nice meeting me. I talked to him for only a minute or so, but it was awesome to meet him! Looking back I could have asked him so many questions that he would have been late to the show lol I was on cloud nine at that point!
We got there and I bought a t-shirt and the sticker and button set. The shirt was only $20 and sticker and buttons were only $5. I thought the t-shirt was a very good price. The first band was the Decemberists. They were awesome!! I had heard some of their material before, but they were great live. They played for only 30 minutes. Then Death Cab for Cutie came on. I really didn’t like there set too much. There songs were to mellow for the night. Nothing really rocking to get the crowd going. A lot of people were talking during there set. They played for 40 minutes and then the Pixies came on!!!!
The place was going freaking nuts when they ran onto the stage!!! They opened the set with “Bone Machine”. Kim was laughing when Charles was screaming. Then they went into “Crackity Jones”, “Cactus” “River Euphrates” and “Is She Weird”. It was great to hear “Is She Weird” They were rocking out big time. Kim and Dave were so great last night. It seemed like the two of they were playing extra loud J They played almost ever song off of Doolittle. “Mr. Grieves” as great, they slowed it down a little which was a nice touch. At the end of “Gigantic” they play the instrumental for at least a minute at a half. The crowd was going nuts cheering them on to keep playing the song! Joey and Kim looked at eachother and just started to laugh. Finally David finally put a stop to the song and did a drum roll to end it The last five songs were “Nimrod’s Son”, “Holiday Song”, “In Heaven”, “Where Is My Mind” and the encore was “Caribou”
During “Where Is My Mind” someone throw a shirt and it landed on Charles lol He just threw it like nothing happened. Also during the song two people got on stage. They just ran around the band and to tell you the truth I don’t think anyone saw they. Maybe Dave saw them, but I know Charles and Kim didn’t see them. After “Where Is My Mind” they put down there instruments and were waving to the crowd. I’m telling you Charles had the biggest smile on his face. All of they were smiling and waving to the crowd. It was probably the best moment of the show. Just to see the four of them there on stage with huge smiles on there faces, it was just great. You know they love playing together. Through out the show all four of them were laughing or smiling at each other. Then Charles talked to the other three and they got their instruments and played one more song “Caribou” It was such a great song to end the show with!!! It was played so freaking loud!!!! Best version of “Caribou” ever!
At the end of the show I didn’t get to hear “Into the White”, but it was definitely one of the best nights of my life! I wish I had the money to go down to Berkley and see a few more shows. I hope everyone that see them on this tour has an much fun as I did last night.
Below are all the songs they played last night. I remember the first five songs and the last six songs. So after that I don’t remember the order of the songs. They played about 85 to 90 minute set.
Bone Machine Crackity Jones Cactus River Euphrates Is She Weird? Mr. Grieves Something Against You Isla de Encanta Broken Face Tame Wave of Mutilation Gouge Away I Bleed Debaser Monkey Gone To Heaven Dead No. 13 Baby Here Comes Your Man Gigantic Hey Velouria U-Mass Vamos Nimrod’s Son Holiday Song In Heaven Where Is My Mind?
Encore Caribou

the show in bend was great. i was a little disappointed in the encore as the band didn't even fully exit the stage after the set. mr. grieves, gouge away, u-mass, river euphrates, where is my mind were the standouts. i saw them in spokane on their 'warmup tour' and they looked alot tighter here in bend. great venue also. it wasn't exactly warm weather and after two songs, frank was already wiping his brow and dripping sweat. i'm glad they played a couple different songs (river euphrates, umass, mr grieves) that i didn't get to hear in spokane. pixies rule!!

I heard that the amphitheater has a 10 PM curfew due to the neighbors in the area. I guess they don't like the noise after that. So yeah it was too bad the encore was only 1 song, but they played 28 songs so you can't complain
