This is now confirmed at:

http://www.mcm.net/programme-mcm/emission.php/48017/1095026400/

Concert The Pixies-Eurocks 2004

Retrouvez les Pixies en concert aux Eurocks en juillet 2004. Retrouvailles pour certains, découvertes miraculeuses pour d'autres... Les Pixies, meilleur groupe de rock de tous les temps?

Durée: 90 min
Diffusion: 22:30
Re-diffusion: le 15/09 à 04:00.

At 90 minutes, this seems pretty likely to be the full show :) Does anyone have the full setlist, or know how long they were on stage for?

Thank you very much to LUTINS for spotting this originally.

Is it going to be possible for someone to record this? I'd definitely love to add it to my CD collection.

i've booked a friend to record it on his personal video recorder pc, on a digital cable source

if eveything goes well, i'll set up a .torrent (or something like that) of a HIGH QUALITY version of this amazing gig.

Fu Manchu - do you know any more details on your friend's equipment? Does he use a DVB-C card or does the video/audio go through an analogue stage?

I know two people who have agreed to make direct DVB captures from the satellite broadcast - so hopefully I'll be authoring (and torrenting) a DVD based on one of those recordings. This will consist of the original broadcast data - no analogue stages and no recompression of either the video or audio (the same as my torrents of T In The Park and Move).

I've been informed that MCM's satellite broadcast is 720x576 MPEG-2 video with 256kbps MP2 audio - which is pretty much the best that standard DVB is capable of. I don't know the bitrate of the video though.

But I'm glad that there's going to be more than one potential source for this - it's far too good to miss.

Dave.

pretty much sure it's a DVB-C card

Let's backup the chances to get it. Your capture of the Move festival was pretty awesome though, if we both get it, I'll let you author the thing.

I'd love to see it aswell! Please, please, please torrent it on Easytree or something like that! And indeed, as Fu Manchu said already, the captures of Move and T Festivals were great!

Thanks in advance!

Well, the 90 minute duration advertised by MCM wasn't accurate - total running time was 91m 23s All 31 tracks, and I don't think they even cut out any of the time between the main performance and the encore.

I recorded the broadcast (direct DVB capture to hard disk), but I had one tiny drop-out in the recording. It's only noticeable if you know where to look (it's half-way through Gigantic), but I'm going to record the repeat broadcast on Wednesday in the hope of a 100% error-free recording. Unless someone else steps forward with a better recording, I'll torrent a DVD later this week.

Only problem was that MCM broadcasts at quite a low bitrate - an average of about 2.5Mbit/s for the video. The video was also letterboxed 4:3 (i.e. a 16:9 image with black bars at the top and bottom), which also helps to degrade the quality.

Fu Manchu - did your friend record the cable version of MCM? What was the quality of that like? Sadly it's most likely to be just a retransmission of the satellite feed.

Hopefully this broadcast will see an official release - I would happily pay for a high quality DVD of this.

i had the same problem on my recording (i'm in paris with cable network Noos). the image froze 2 times during few seconds. damn it !!!

otherwise, it's very unlikely that it will be release officially because MCM always broadcast les Eurockeennes, remember that gorgeous RADIOHEAD gig last year, and they are never released on dvd or vhs yet.

How would you rate the video quality of the cable braodcast? Do you have any way of finding out the average bitrate used by Noos for MCM?

As I said in an earlier post, the video quality of the MCM satellite broadcast is far from the best I've seen. But maybe I'm being too fussy.

Well i find the mcm image quality quite well.

Otherwise that would be great to mek a Pixies dvd with bonus like t in the park and move festival videos. We can add videos from the word and the vpro vid.

Do you receive MCM via cable or satellite?

I wasn't planning on including any extra footage on the DVD if I was authoring it. I just want to keep it small and simple.

Awesome gig indeed and great image. MC is a shitty TV station but they do broadcast great shows.
I recorded it on tape, but I'd really like to trade with anyone who has it on DVD. Zed, do you live in Paris?
