Licken ballens
Since I got out of the mental ward I've gotten about 3 hours of sleep. I've been out for almost 48 hours...
Any suggestions?
I took an extra Zyprexia and some Benadryl, I am going insane.

a little clumsy written, but these are good advice (in general, won´t solve your problem right now):
no coffee, sweets, coke after 1700 (caffein takes about 3-5 hours to reaaly kick in). Take a walk a couple of hours before you go to bed. Low activity (both you and round you - reduce stimuli around you - no loud music for instance, no bright lights) before you go to sleep. No cigarettes just before you go to sleep. Make sure you use your body during the day, so that it gets tired and needs rest. And, this works very well for me; find a routine for going to sleep. I solve a couple of chess combinations each night, asleep in ten minutes. There are lots more of advice on the net.

Try sleeping somewhere other than your bedroom. Sometimes my bed can psyche me out when I can't sleep. I lay down and think "Oh boy, here we go again another sleepless night", but when I'm on the couch watching the third repeat of Sportscenter, there's less pressure for me to fall asleep and so I do.
I don't know what meds you're taking, but Xanax does the trick and Nyquil does the trick for me (haven't taken them together.) I think Benadryl can keep you awake sometimes; It makes me jittery.

Little Black Francis, don`t take it too hard on yourself.
I also had a short period in which I used some xanax, it makes you calmer, but really doesn`t attack the cause of your state of not being relaxed. After some hours when the xanax pill doesn`t work anymore you will feel "unrelaxed" again. So try to find out what makes you mental right now. Often the anwer is not that hard. For example maybe your work is not what you want it to be. If you do work that you really donot like after some time your body will protest against it with symptoms such as insomnia, stress, anxiety, nervous feeling, general out of rhytm feeling etc.
I also had a lot of sleeping problems in the past. You talk about 48 hours without sleep. I have one time had a period of 5 days in a row without any sleep.
I still have occasionally sleeping problems which are really annoying. I usually gets these problems when I go away from my house for some time. Being awake in the middle of the night really irritates. Usually I`ll just take some natural pills such as melatonine and Valeriaan or I just don`t sleep well for 1 or 2 night. In some rare occasions (maybe 2 times per year) I take a sleeping pill. I take then Temazepam, which is for sleeping in and for sleeping in if you wake up in the night too often. I didn`t have any side effects, actually you even feel better the next day than with a normal sleep. The doctor said there is one major side effect and that is that you can become addictive to this one, so never take it too many days.
good luck

Maybe everything is covered in faux fur, instead of the real thing.

avoid your bedroom all day and only go in there to sleep...interesting fact but, people who live in studio apartments are 4 times as likely to develop sleep disorders. |

Actually I just detoxed from Xanax after a 3 year addiction so I wouldn't dare take that shit...
Actually I've finally got my circadian rhythm back on track...
I think it was those Nicotine patches that fucked with me, and the Adavan, and getting OFF the terrible Xanax
thanks for all the suggestions though, I appreciate it.
Peace

Just don't forget the words of John Linnell: "Turning to drugs to help you sleep will only lead to sleep, and sleeping is a gateway drug to being awake...again."

O.K guys It was fun to see the reactions about 5 days without sleep. Didn`t expect that many reactions. But actually that was what really happened to me, I am telling the truth. I must admit that I didn`t like it at all, but I`ll tell you what really happens to you after 5 days without sleep
nothing...
