| Without going into too much detail about everyone I have resentment for, rest-assured, if you can name it, I can find something that bugs me about it...anyone here have any advice for someone who has grown extremely bitter? Can I reverse this process? I have yet to reach the point of Taxi Driver.....but geez.... |

| Go to Massif Central, Manitoba or Iceland with no cellphone (spent some time in Iceland by myself this summer and that cheered me up anyway...)...or try some happy pills for a while... |

I completely understand; I used to be the exact same way. What it boils down to is a pride problem. For me, I would always try as hard as I possibly could to find a reason that I was better than every person I met, and although I wanted to think that everyone else had problems (which of course they do--everyone does!) I was the one with the bigger problem, which is self-righteosness and pride (and to think, I used to believe I had no pride...). Pride, of course, is one of the most difficult things to swallow, and I can't say that I have even come even close to completely swallowing my own. The best advice I can give you is to get to know your self. In other words, don't let yourself be fooled by your own misconceptions of your personality; search yourself and learn the truth about you; humble yourself. And it is far more difficult than it seems, but even in these beginning stages I have already begun to look at people in a whole new light. To learn to love everyone is certainly far more difficult and far more noble than to hate, but everyone can do it if they so desire.

I tend to be fairly misanthropic myself. That doesn't mean you can't like INDIVIDUAL people, though. I might have a bit of a pride problem, but it's nowhere near as bad as my social anxiety.

Maybe it's time to face facts; I used to think that everyone was pretty smart, even people who acted stupid were just using some tactic intended to simplify their lives (pretty smart!). This only leads to massive disappointment when people fail to meet even your basest standards.
Lowered expectations will make you happy. Now you know why people vote Conservative, why people listen to Celine Dion. It's not their fault! (F*@%ing Morons)

i was pretty misanthropic as a younger lad, but then, i had equally-misanthropic friends.
i think if you're in your teens or early twenties, hating everyone is pretty normal. but being an angry misanthrope into your 30's and up is pretty unattractive.
i think you'll realize that people aren't that bad. and to offer up a cheesy (but true) cliche, you can't really love anyone anyone else if you don't learn to love yourself.
if that doesn't work out, maybe people aren't your thing. in which case you can turn towards the animal kingdom for love and affection.
not even you could refuse unconditional love from a cute puppy..
"you don't hate me too, do you frank black francis?"
or you could adopt a kitten
"look fbf: my fur is black, like your soul. i think we could be friends."

I've been through doormat, I went through quiet angst and I'm going through angry fucker and telling every fucker that fucks me off why they have and why they shouldn't and loudly, I'm going through a life is too short to tolerate fuckwits, seems harsh but it's not two faced.
I reckon I'll hit mellow in my late thirties, I think I can ride this angry wave for at least another 15 years
