I had such a horrible day (NOT a beautiful day!) today. I was at work for 10 hours, I never had lunch and I hardly went outside except to escort some guy to some interviews. My boss spilled toner in his office and then my other crazy boss kept asking me to stay late to work on some crap for him. Finally my lovely coworker wanted to help me - after I starting crying on the phone.
Day from Hell! I think I am going to take a shower and go to bed. I just needed to vent. ARGH!!! What do you all do when you have an awful day?
Luckily I am going on vacation on Friday...but it won't come soon enough and the three days in between are going to be just as crazy. Feh.

exercise always makes me feel better. go for a run or a walk if you can.
otherwise, a cold frosty beer and a cigarette always makes me feel better too.
i have healthy and unhealthy coping methods at my disposal.

ramona, I feel for you. I have had my share of bad days (stock trader throws phone at my head; base, handset and all) and long hours (working ~100 hours a week for months at a time), and both overlapping. In all of these scenarios, I find drinking heavily really helps blow off steam. I recommend it.

That's fucked up. The first of August was an awful day for me. I've had trouble getting up on time for my weekend shifts at the photo lab lately. My insomnia makes sure that I don't get to sleep before 5 or 6 a.m. every night, and it's hard to get up at 9 a.m. when you've only had a few hours of sleep, so I've been late several times lately. So I was going to prove to them this weekend that I could be on time both Saturday and Sunday. Well, I managed to get there on time on Saturday. I have no recollection of my alarm going off on Sunday. First thing I remember is my roommates' girlfriend knocking on my door and saying I was late for work. It was over an hour late, too. So as I'm driving in a pissed off panic to work, my eye that was injured a few months ago starts getting all irritated again and I can hardly keep my eyes open because it's so bad. It was messed up for about the first hour of work, and then was periodically painful throughout the rest of the day. So I was dealing with all that stress and pain, and when I finally got to the end of the day, I was picking up the tank of chemical waste and accidentally spilled it all over the photo lab and it began seeping under the counters and out by the cashier lanes, so everydamnbody knew about it. Man, that was a shitty day. Haha.

Man, I had a crappy day too! Customers were such bitches today! Seriously the worst day I've ever had at best buy, and I've been there for 8 months. Crazy.
Unfortunately I just got back from vacation

Thanks, guys.
The Crazy Boss just called me in his office to apologize for the whole thing, so that is good. And my coworker was stuck here until 11! Poor thing. But if it had been me here that late, I probably would be in jail now for murder.

Which brands are most popular in Canada? Arranged by company, some of the more popular brands are:
Imperial Tobacco Du Maurier Players Matinée Cameo
JTI-Macdonald Export A Vantage Macdonald
Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Rothmans Craven A Benson & Hedges Belvedere Viscount Mark 10
I think "Sportsman" is a funny name for another Cdn brand.

I had a pretty sucky day too Em, but it cheers me up to know your's was worse. In fact, it was just more crazily busy than horrible. Major office move + insane workload + tons of new staff + no working equipment + nutso customers + the hottest, sweatiest day ever = much fun, clearly.

work is supposed to suck otherwise you wouldn't know the difference between at work and not at work, I too have had a less than great day, I trapped my finger between two instrument trays and now have a blood blister, the nurses insisted on looking at my other finger, decided they should have given me a stitch then cut the bit of the finger-flap that is dead off, then told me I was going to have an ugly scar (Do boys dig scars as much as chicks do?) Then I found out a friend of mine blabbed something confidential at my old place of work, where my dad still works (I hope it doesn't get back to him), then I realised I've run out of money for this week and it was really hot today and I had no food till I got home 'cos of no money but now I have pyjama's, one mother of a storm brewing, black coffee, menthol cigarettes and jeff buckley and I am content
I hope you are ok ramona! Big girly hugs to you x

heh yeah, it's a good one too, I've had to turn Grace down to hear the rumble of the thunder, which at the moment is still distant, but the rains picking up speed now and that thunders getting closer... I really do love storms

So I see many ruffled subordinates here but are there any people in power in this forum? I'd like to ask them if/what they have against people turning up at wotk at 10, 11, 12 o'clock or whenever? If you get the job done what does it matter when you do it? |

I had me a lie in today, I was supposed to have an injection but I called the hospital and they postponed it 'cos I didn't sound well enough so I don't have to go in till 11am and even then I'll only be there six hours... bliss! It's the little things that make me smile

Do you get paid overtime at least?

Sorry to hear that Ramona. Maybe if you lock your office door, leave the lights on, and leave a tape recorder of your voice talking on repeat, you can fool him. Bosses today aren't what they once were. If that doesn't work, my apologies with the long hours. Maybe Apl is right, you should look for another job.

ramona- from one admin-slave to another... I feel your pain.
Our work is thankless 90% of the time, and this is only exacerbated by asshole bosses, inefficient delegation of duties, blah blah blah
I feel my brain slowly dissolve into an indescript gray mush and drip out my nasal cavity as I sit here wasting record amounts of time in front of a slave-driving computer screen that flays at my poor eyeballs with its cathode ray whip of oppression.
Playing music afternoons/evenings with my band is often suspected to be the only anchor to this thing we call "sanity" |
