actually, i think most of the country is orange, and some key cities (nyc, dc) are red.

well, mostly from the guys with machine guns at the airport when i came home from work tonight.
seriously.
fuck fear though. its sooo been done. it doesn't help solve anything to freak everyone out about events beyond their control... people who use fear as a tool are dickheads, and should be regarded as such in the things we can control, such as elections. in theory anyway.

I feel like every other day I hear on the radio "The USA elevated their alert level today", and I wonder how many levels you have. Can you guys make the difference between red alert and a-little-bit-darker-red alert?

I can't help but fear the Bush Administration stealing the November elections...through some "terrorist act" the election will be cancelled and he will take over. Cue civil war.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

Maybe the government has some information that has led them to believe that there may be a terrorist threat.
Seriously, you criticize because you don't think they gave enough warning before September 11th...but now you criticize them when they try to share more information to keep you better protected.
You criticize them for not handing over the government of Iraq soon enough...but then you criticize them for handing it over too soon.
Maybe, just maybe, you're biased to begin with and you're hoping to put an anti-Republican spin on everything that happens, even when it contradicts what you've said previously.

How is telling us that they raised the alert level from one arbitrary color to another one "keeping us better protected"? Have we actually been told what to do to avoid terrorist attacks? As far as I can tell, all that color-coded crap does is scare people, which is what the terrorists also want to do, isn't it?

this administration clearly, embarassingly obviously, treats the american people like we are all apathetic idiots. they were right, regarding the lack of an utter motherfucker freak out over our last "election".
we are fat and happy, but they forget what happens when you really piss the american people off. note, the american people, not the government. we're a pretty good bunch of joes, when confronted with evil, we fight it. i'm thinking ww2, as opposed to vietnam and such, when the people were ambivalent at best.
i'm just saying, even if they try some bullshit, we will not let it slide again. prepare for an utter motherfucker freak out. which i hope we have learned how to carry off effectively without loss of life.
