I've been registered there for a long time, and I can't agree with you more floop. The reviews at the end of every recipe are very helpful too. Are you on the mailing list? I love that - I've populated much of my recipe box with the ones they send you every week. What's one of your favorite recipes from there?
I'm tempted to try for that Wolf/Viking kitchen too (our electric stove is crap, only two burners and a griddle! There is no better cooking than with gas, damnit), but who am I kidding? I can't beat an Italian quesadilla pizza from the master himself.  |

it is all in the marinade. i'm all about marinades.
for some reason i don't see kabobs winning.. i just have a gut feeling. an award-winning recipe (which mine will be) has to be the perfect combination of gormet, unusual and easy-to-make. kabobs are actually pretty involved, with all the cutting things into pieces and whatnot..
apl, no i'm not on the mailing list. my gf turned me onto this site / contest, knowing that i'm a grilling afficionado (in addition to a quesadilla master)

Kebabs are brilliant. That is if we're talking about the same thing here, skewered pieces of meat and vegetables grilled over gas/fire. We've amazing Karoo lamb kebabs. Damn good.
Ever grill filet? I use honey and soy sauce to marinate the meat 1 hour before grilling. The most important bit is that the meat is really good quality though.
Grilling veggies tastes good too. Asparagus, mushrooms, sweet corn coated with olive oil and grilled. Baie lekker!

corn on the cob is great on the grill too. you can just throw it right on there with the husks still on (about 20 minutes) and it comes out perfectly.
when i'm grilling, i try to cook all my food on the grill, so there isn't a lot of extraneous activity going on (like, also cooking something on the stove).. that's one of the great things about grilling is the easy clean up factor.
bell peppers are great too. you don't even have to put anything on them and they taste great.

You see floop, offerw likes the kebabs.
You can make it easier by choosing veggies that don't need to be cut,
whole mushrooms, cherry tomatoes etc.
I made some the other night, with pork and pieces of fruit (mangoes etc.) and an apricot glaze. Now that's unusual. Twas good. |

I love grilled vegetables...
Grill Bell peppers until the skin starts to wrinkle
take them off the grill and
the skin peels right off
you've basically steamed them in their own skin
brings out their natural flavors
you've not tasted peppers until you've done this
Kabobs suck... I hate them, why the skewer?
Grilled Squash and Zucchini...
marinate in French/Catalonia dressing for a day or so
cut them into planks by cutting them along the bias
then just mark them like a steak
chill, eat
Throw mushrooms, onions, and toms right onto the grill...
eat... you can chill them, I like them warm...
I can deal with a slightly blackened NY strip, ribeye or tenderloin
and I like it with a balsamic blue cheese reduction sauce
Pork tenderloin with Molassas and Mustard sauce is quite tasty as well
That ought to do for starters...
Why am I the only who ever posts anything that resembles a recipe on "food" threads? I guess no one really cares...
