So, there is a picture of them signing a guitar but it is clearly a DIFFERENT guitar. Does that mean anything?

This stinks of bullshit. Joey's sig goes under the strings a long way. Did he cut through them with his pen? Also all 4 sigs are with the same blue ink but the photos clearly show not only that each of them signed something on different occasions but this something definately isn't that guitar in Dave's and Kim's cases and as for Frank I don't even see a musical instrument. He might as well be paying for his orange juice. If the sigs look authentic they might have been neatly traced onto the guitar. And why bother paying $300 for that? Just take the one you already have, Fender or not , and have it signed by them for no money at all.

The coolest Pixies item I ever saw on Ebay was one of the RIAA (is that the right initials?) Gold Records for Doolittle. All framed and looking good.

It was given to some exec whose name was on the brass plate, not a band member. I bid up until it got over $300 or so if I recall correctly. I dont know why, but, wish I had it...

Well since they have the photos of them signing it...I think it is legit... I wonder what the band would think about the "fan" who is selling it for a profit. I think I would feel kinda weird...like you did this just for the person and they end up selling it. It would be cool if he gave at least some of the $$$ to charity. Would be nice to have some of that stuff maybe some day when I have more $$$

total bullshit. the pictures do not line up with where those "autographs" are on the guitar.

and regardless that doesn't look like a good, real, authentic strat to me (and if it were i don't think it would be starting at $300.)

stupid scam to get stupid ignorant people who don't know any better.

Well. Seeing as its been up over 4 days and no ones bid it seems that people are less ignorant than you think.

nit-picking a bit, but if you look at the photo of joey signing and then look at his signature on the guitar, he would have been writing it upside down, odd no?

Kim Deal would've also signed it upside down, unless the picture is reversed, which I can't tell...

It's two degrees of separation from the Pixies. They signed a guitar, and what is being sold is also a guitar.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure it's fake. I just looked at three of my Frank Black autographed CD's and you can definitely tell some major differences on that guitar. The biggest one is the F. The guy who signed the guitar did a separate horizontal line at the top and then did the verticle line and the cross. Frank's F starts with the verticle line going down, then points out in a triangle to the left, which is very noticeable on all three of my signatures, and then without stopping, that line goes up to the horizontal line, all of these being connected. Frank's R is much more natural, whereas you can tell this guy took his time on it and it didn't come out right at all. The B is also INCREDIBLY different. For one thing, on my sigs, Frank does NOT connect the B and l. Also, on the bottom of the B where it is separated, Frank's points much more to the left than that one. It's hard to explain all of this without pictures and maybe I'm wrong, but like I said, I would be pretty confident this is fake. Also, as everyone has already pointed out, the photos of the guys signing it don't match up at all to the actual signatures.

It really is a different guitar. The one in the pic with Joey has a rosewood fretboard, while the one up for auction has a maple fretboard. Probably the scratchboard has been swapped over to another (cheap Squire) guitar. As for Joey's sig going under the strings, all I can say is that strings actually come off guitars!! No big deal there. After comparing a the FB sig with a couple of things that I've had signed, it looks to be genuine.
