has old pixes stuff always been available on UK itunes, or is this actually 'new' news?
cause the article is pretty vague and i have never looked at the site.

Only it isn't... well wasn't last night when I checked.
Surely though (although not applicable in the Pixies' case do to the Complete B-Sides LP) the really good use of iTunes should be to be able to get bands' b-sides. Only most of the time they don't put them up there, which is frankly daft.

Some (or all) independant labels (like 4AD) were not on iTunes for one reason or another, so pre-reunion 4AD Pixies material (ie; archive) would not have been distributed through iTunes.

Your point being? As of yesterday the Indies (at least 4AD) had signed the contract, so they should be now.

I'm just saying why it might say 'archive', instead of, not saying so. I assumed the ""archival"" in the subject and "has old pixes stuff always been available on UK itunes, or is this actually 'new' news?" was quasi-questioning this....which, I would say it was.

the songs wont be added immediately, but will be added soon. Maybe even tomorrow - Tuesdays seem to be the iTunes new music day...

Can I suggest going to emusic.com - they have all the "archival" releases there already (including the purple tape) - and they are a damn site cheaper than apple!

Don't know if we are talking just the UK iTunes or what, but I am pretty sure you can get any of the Pixies releases on iTunes (If you're in the states)

From Come on Pilgrim to Bam Thwok, I think it's all there. Purple tape, EP's, the whole nine yards, errrr meters.

we're talking iTunes in Europe - the US was sorted out a long time ago - it was the UK side of things - but it is all sorted out now....

Still can't think of any reason to buy alums from iTunes (exclusives, yes, b-sides, yes, but whole albums? rather spend a £1 more and get the CD, even though I haven't used a CD in 2 years as all my music goes straight onto my iBook/iPod).
