Hey peeps..

Those sons of motherfuckers Nimrod's Son (the UK's most English Pixies tribute band) are gonna be doing one last show at the Venue, New Cross on Friday 1st October. I know I said that last time, but this one is for definate. We might play a few other places, but this is the last show at the imaginatively named The Venue.

I'm thinking 'bout knocking it on the head since I don't wanna make money and play shows just because everyone is suddenly interested in the Pixies therefore Pixies tribute bands- it just don't seem right, yknow? I'd rather play tunes for the "proper" fans, not the bandwagon jumpers. I guess having punk ethics and playing in a tribute band just don't quite mix.

So yeah..
Friday 1st October
The Venue
Clifton Rise, New Cross, London
£7 entry/£3 with NME ad

And as per usual, email your name and I'll put you on the guestlist.

Hope to see as many of you there as humanly possible
Doog x

A big FB meetup would be awesome, although the time of day doesn't help with travelling (usually go onstage bout 11!). So yeah, anyone interested email me your full name (including embarrassing middle names for my own personal amusement) and you'll get in free.

I can't I'm afraid. I'm gutted 'cos I really wanted to see Doog's band. Unfortunately I have already got tickets for another gig on that night.

[tries not to hijack/derail thread but...]

just been busy at the AQA, working overtime and going out, and looking for a permanent job and sorting out my band (getting a drummer, have 2 potentials now!) and stuff like that...

doog, emailing you now.
and i assume your putting jo and shaun on there too....

and doog, when you fellas played the last time, you didn't play many bossanova or trompe songs.....why?
is that cause you don't know many off those albums or were you trying to 'copy' the reunion tour?
just wondering?

so looks like just me, mel and cheese from last meetup for the next one - thats ok cause we're the bestest of the lot as well.
but mel - hands off!

Nah, not copying the reunion tour, we've always done more SR/COR-Doolittle stuff, and if you stick to the Death To stuff, most people are gonna know the songs.

From TLM, we do Planet Of Sound, Palace Of The Brine, Letter To Memphis, U-Mass and have had a bash at Subbacultcha but never played it live. Only do Dig For Fire and Cecilia Ann from Bossanova, but if the band has any future, we'll get round to doing Velouria, The Happening, Allison, Rock Music, maybe Havalina cause I love it..

If there's a song you really wanna hear, let me know and I'll see what I can do :)

Boom Chick a Boom! It sounds quite simple, but I've never properly tried to work it out. Dean (Cult o' Frank) might have a tab(?) as he was going to do it for the tribute album....

Hmm... I was thinking more along the lines of album tracks or B-sides, although I do love Boom Chicka Boom, and Rock A My Soul..

Definately wanna do Motorway but don't think we could pull it off live, it's an amazingly layered song. Love that keyboard outro..
