Can someone who bought the disclive copy of the opening brixton show, please give me a comprehensive review of it? Also tell me what is the cover like? I am away from home at the moment but have been told its been delivered. I was at this show and the sound was mediocre but the performance was white hot. i was on the top balcony so maybe not best positioned. I would be really grateful as i'm gagging to hear what the show is like and see the cover, but am not going to be home for a few months. Please help me!!! |

Hi Sam, I too was at the 2nd June show in the balcony and was disappointed. Sound was poor and I thought they were slow starting. Not got the time to give a comprehensive review but it does sound better on CD. Disclive have done a great job on it.
The cover is as per the Disclive website - you should also be able to spot one on eBay.
I'd recommend getting the thursday night show as there was some banter with the crowd, even from Frank (Lovering's parent were thanked at one point) and I thought they kicked-ass.
Cheers John |

i was also at this show and also just got the disclive cd the other day after it got lost in the mail the first time round.
i thought the show was pretty damn good, but the thurs night show was incredibly better.
the disclive cd sounds really good, as they all do, and it does come across as a much better performance on the cd than on the night. but as john says, the thurs one is much better cause of lotsa chatting and the saturday one is also better cause it's got a great setlist. dunno about the fri one as don't have it.
but overall, wed appears to be the most disappointing show of the 4 on both cd and real-life, which is sad since it was the first...oh well.

I've got the Friday one and none of the others - so cannot offer fair comparison - no chatting but the sound is good and was great from where I was stood on the night - downstairs just off to the right of the stage - PERFECT position for any Brixton gig - good sound/good view (shit have I just given away one of my secrets?) No talking really apart from Kim right before the encore, but fabulous setlist. Seem to remember the disclive engineer posting that Friday night was in his opinion the best night (soundwise atleast) I've copied and pasted it somewhere on my machine if you can't find it and want it emailing. |

Thanks guys, i'll look forward to hearing it properly. It was an awesome night, even though the sound up on the balcony was a bit rough. I saw them in Dublin and the sound was so much better as well as the band seemed to be enjoying themselves alot more too. I should have blagged my way into the mosh pit on the bottom floor but the security were having none of it. Oh for another night of bliss like that! |
