And here I was thinking that my 4th of July had been an incredible let down... but oh no! Your thought provoking imagery has now rekindled my desire to go back outside and light more fireworks. Which was actually the highlight of my day.
Yea verily, the rain came down in torrents this afternoon and I had much fear that my annual journey into the world of explosives would be dampened. But as fate would have it, the skies cleared and the Roman candles burst forth into the night like some many shining... errr... Roman candles.
And lo, tho the... (ad nauseum , etc.)

I broiled some burgers and watched some fireworks from my car parked on the side of the road. I ate the burgers before watching said fireworks. That was my 4th. It was raining like a mofo during the fireworks.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

We had clear weather and about $500 in "illegal" fireworks...and lotsa beer, burger, brats, etc... I had a great time shooting up the derilect trailer next door with my spud gun. I awoke on the 4th (at 7pm) feeling quesious and shamed for I had completed yet another perilous stumble into the depths of white-trashness. I can do about 200 yards with a nice hard Idaho.
Now, THATS how you kill a fucking thread. |

Our upstairs neighbors in Chicago had a sweet-ass spudgun on the roof terrace. 6 feet long maybe? We took care of their plants on the balcony while they were away for a while. It was hard to resist the temptation to have it out with the suburban fuckers parking their fucking cars all over the damn place in our neighborhood to play softball in the park across the street. No one would have ever known. For a few hours anyway. If we were lucky.

Roc, apl.
Chicago story - Went to see an old friend who lived near Andersonville on the north side - March, 2003. We're sitting by a window in his apt cause I smoke like a freightrain when I'm drinking and the dude don't smoke - anyway - we're way into a case of Heineken keggies when we see a bright flash. I caught it out of me peripheral vision. Friends stops conversation; "Woah - did you see that?" "Yeah - lightning?" "Yeah - probly...ahh fuck it." And we put the rest of the brews down.
Next day its in the news - a meteor went through into some poor sot's living room in the south suburbs somewhere - no shit! He emails a friend of his and she replies:
"Riiiight. M-E-T-E-O-R-S."
Dam funny at the time. Oh - and Chicago - thats just a very good town. Me like.

i got misty-eyed reading this. it's nice to know that even during times of political uncertainty and national strife, there are still true Americans out there.

Psst, that movie was made in the US. So, if you found the movie convincing or entertaining, then that's something good you can say about the US.
Plus, we invented tap dancing. |
