And all other sorts of stinging insects, like hornets and wasps. I found out this weekend, on Saturday. I was walking around in my backyard, when a something stung me. I put some ice on it, but that was it. About 15 minutes later, I began to swell up and my throat started to close. My body broke out in hives, and I felt very faint. My mom called an ambulance, and a bunch of EMT's drove me to the hospital in an ambulance. Apparently, I had an anaphylactic reaction. So anyway, now I have to carry an Epipen with me at all times, which I doubt I'll remember. My question to you, any FB.netters have allergies?

I lift weights, but I don't sweat. I go for a swim, but I don't get wet.

Nah. No allergies here. Though I do have a particular disdain for uncooked tomatos. Bluh.

Anaphylactic reaction, eh? That's giving me X Files flashbacks. Good thing those paramedics didn't hijack you to Antarctica and put you inna tank on their UFO. Then you'da really been in trubble.

Ooh, you poor ol' honey. That sucks. I used to have to carry an Epipen in case I had a nasty reaction to my allergy shots. (I have big sneezy allergies to various pollens, molds, and dust mites. I'm also really allergic to beef and haven't eaten it in 12 years now.) I got stung by something once and got a little wheezy and light-headed, but no full-on anaphylaxis--I took a massive dose of Benadryl and that helped. My sister is severely allergic to stingies, though. You have my sympathy.

Thanks for the sympathy. At the hospital, they pumped me full of Benadryl, which really helped out. Before I arrived though, they inserted the IV in the ambulance. The EMT screwed up somehow, and applied pressure to the wrong spot and I ended up bloodying him and the rest of the ambulance up. Can't blame the guy though, we were bouncing around a lot. Seems like a tough line of work, that.

Well, that does suck. It's really a marvel that we (humanity) have survived as long as we have, what with our bodies rendering themselves defenseless against everything from dust to bees to sunlight. Glad to hear you're okay, hopefully you don't go through that again.

Because I don't know anyone else with the Unicorns in their sig. I had that line in my head all yesterday.

Im allergic to cashew nuts. Traces of it make my throat close up and I feel awful. Just one does the same but worse plus it makes me throw up violently. It took me so long to work out that, thats what I was allergic to. Until I ate one, unfortunately.

Sir Rockabye likes when we try new things, especially new food. But one time some bee got into Sir Rockabye's pasta. His throat closed up. He couldn't breathe. Dad called 911 while he got his Epipen. Epipen saved his life.

Hahaha, sorry, couldn't help it. Hoped it made you snicker. If you didn't know it was a parody of that lame-ass Epipen commercial.

The doctors used to say that I'd have an anaphylactic reaction to milk...but I'd literally drink a gallon in about 2 days and it did nothing to me. I imagine it wasn't a fun experience, though, so I hope you don't have to go through it again. Feel better!

Sorry to hear about that Sir Rockabye. I hope you are all better now, and may it never happen again!

We have Epipens in our bathroom drawer for my husband's allergy to stinging insects (bees, hornets and such). Lot of good they would do in the bathroom though. I hope that day never comes.

Just the thought of ever having to apply the injection gives me the feeling I had when I watched Jules give Mia an adrenaline shot.

Thanks for the concern from everybody. I am feeling better now, although I'm still a little puffy and some of my glands are kind of sore. I'll be taking a steroid called Methylprednisolone for the next week or so, but I think I'll be fine. Crouton, never seen the commercial, but it tickles me to think of somebody outside of this forum calling me "Sir Rockabye", especially my dad.
