I'm sure this has been treated in another topic, but I can't found it.
What are they singing right after the chorus? It sounds like german, isn't it?

Isnīt it the same as other versions?
something like:
"And when I was a little boy
A ball of string my parents took from me,

Iīm Amazed

Before I died, I took my Honda
And packed it up,up, up to Arizona"

No,no. I was talking about that thing Kim and Francis sang at the same time. It's not the verse and not the "I'm Amazed" chorus line.

Really like that part, dunno why they left it out of the 'recording'. Also like the somewhat changed lyrics of Frank's acoustic demo of said song.

well it was steve albini's idea to take it out...
it doesn't really fir with the rest of the song i don't think, so a good idea in that regard.

I disagree. I think that part is great, it gives a rather rambunctious and non-melodic (amelodic?) song a nice injection of pep and pop. Plus, the opening of the song has that part w/o the vocals, so it's a return to that.

As far as I'm concerned, Albini's production works for some of the songs and hinders others. Bone Machine needs that drum sound, I can't imagine it sounding any other way. Brick Is Red sounds crisp. And Vamos sounds great w/ all the the different mics picking up different things from different takes. But I feel that the versions of both Gigantic and River Euphrates that appear on Surfer Rosa are inferior to the versions of those two songs that Gil Norton produced. And some of the Purple Tape versions of songs that later appeared on Surfer Rosa (such as I'm Amazed) sound better to me on the Purple Tape than on Surfer Rosa. I dunno, I haven't quite gotten Albini's genius yet. Maybe once I hear a remastered version of Surfer Rosa I'll be able to hear what it is everyone's praising that record for.

I prefer those albini's sound. In fact, Surfer Rosa is my fave Pixies record. We all agree Norton's productions sounds a hundred times better, but I think those earlier Pixies songs need some of that scratchy, dark sound. An Albini's version of Hey? It sounds great.

all the albums were remastered but Pixies management rejected them.
so no, you'll never get to hear them...unless you work for 4ad or something.

Well, Death to the Pixies is mastered loud as hell compared to the studio albums. It's nice to crank Planet of Sound and let it just blow me away.

My friend was SUPER pissed when he bought the reissue of Trompe Le Monde and it was the same version he already had. I had tried to warn him that a girl from 4ad had said they weren't remastered but he must've forgot. I decided not to remind him that I warned him since he was so pissed. But I really think it'd be nice if they'd get the remasters out. I want LOUD!
