It sounds great, but it's definitely missing those great NP background vocals. I'll definitely have to buy this album sometime. He's playing over here sometime this month I believe, but it's an 18+ show so I can't go.

I've listened to it about 6 times (damn thing is only 33mins long!)

It's not as poppy or upbeat as the NP's..still not bad, but i was hoping for a bit more..

I bought it yesterday. I'm only listening to it for the second time right now, but I love it! "Secretarial," "Drink to me Babe, Then," "The Town Halo," and "35 in the Shade" are some of my favorites right now. I love the production on this one too ( much better than Electric Version)

When you get tons of pop, it's hard to take anything less when that's what you expect.

Paul Westerberg might not be as poppy, but he's usually catchy and melodic, especially his recent stuff. So I heard Dead Man Shake yesterday, and couldn't get into it at all cuz it's all blues. Really well-done blues, but when I hear Westerberg, I want to hear good old fashioned rock ditties, not the blues. But I'm sure if I give it more time, I'll hear more of Pauly in it.

I just want to say I'm jealous you're all getting to see him. Although apparently he might come to Europe. Maybe.

the A.C. Newman album might be my top one for this year. Maybe.

My husband thinks he sounds like Sting. I cried.

the show was excellent. i still haven't seen the New Pornographers, but this was, i imagine, almost as good. he played most of the album, and threw in some New Pornographers songs from both albums. (i have to admit, those were the highlights)..

the rest of the band were all excellent. i always like it when musicians can play more than one instrument.. the keyboardist also plays electric guitar, and there's a guy who plays trumpet, guitar and all sorts of goofy instruments like this keyboard that you blow into from a tube (what is this called?).

i think AC is an amazingly gifted songwriter. he seems like a guy who just has endlessly catchy pop riffs spilling out of him. it would be interesting to get him in a room with Frank and see what they'd come up with.

anyway, good show. check it out if you can. (supposedly this was only their 4th show ever).

after the show my girlfriend and i were hanging out at the bar and most of the band were hanging out next to us. we were both amused that AC, while giving an interview to some guy, was reaching down and grabbing his girlfriends ass the entire time (i don't think he realized we were sitting right behind them)..
