Today's random song of the day is I Bleed.
What do you think of it?
lyrics As loud as hell A ringing bell Behind my smile It shakes my teeth And all the while As vampires feed
I bleed
Prithee, my dear, Why are we here Nobody knows We go to sleep As breathing flows My mind secedes
I bleed
There's a place In the buried west In a cave With a house in it In the clay The holes of hands You can place A hand in hand
I bleed

One of my favorites. I love the way Kim and Frank echo each other.

Hey! Where had you been, SO? I recently rediscovered I Bleed. The day of the Pixies gig in Paris (last Monday), I listened to Doolittle, which is my least fave album by them, and I Bleed stroke (striked?) me as a truly wonderful song. I really wished they'd play it that night, and guess what... That's exactly what they did. One of the true highlights of the gig. I LOVE the vocals, laidback during the verse and desperate in the chorus. Oh, and the beginning of the song is awesome too.

Throbbin' bass. Wicked. And yes, the style of the vox! Frank speaking totally deadpan, Kim singing. Eerie. |

I love this song so much, and it was awesome at Brixton. Brilliant stuff.

The verses and choruses are good, but the bridge is fantastic. |

I brought I BLEED to my geetar teacher to figure out for me. When it hit the second guitar intro part (right before "Prithee my dear...") and JS plays the same note progression, just out of tune, Teach made an unhappy, surprised face, like he was sucking on a lemon. And that is why I love the Pixies. |

What a song, I was thrilled when I heard they played both I Bleed and River Euphrates for the first times during this tour, at the same show. Listening to I Bleed instantly takes me back to the summer between 7th and 8th grade. And what a summer it was. I think that's a fairly high compliment for a song :) Oh, and the way Frank and Kim's vocals work togeather, man.. just godly. |

TarTar, saying Doo is my least fave Pixies album doesn't mean I don't like it. I absolutely love it, just not as much as the other ones. I guess it's just because the best known songs have kinda worn out (eg. Monkey Gone To Heaven: awesome song, I used to be crazy about it, but not I've gotten tired of it). How can I explain? I just prefer the other records.

I Bleed is one of my fav's off Doolittle - alongside dead and gouge away... loved hearing it live the other week. great bassline, and as others have said....works so well hearing frank say the lyrics while kims sings....brilliant.
and re: monkey - has always been my least fav off doolittle.

I Bleed,to me is of the same stadard as any of the other Pixies classics, yet it always slips under my guard, and i never say it is one of their best when asked. But i checked my playlist on my computer, and it has been played 104 times. Enough said.

Hooray! The Song Oracle has returned from Outer Mongolia!
I'll have to agree with Emily and Ziggy on how Frank and Kim's voices complement each other. Definitely the best part of the song. Gives it kind of a creepy feeling.

I love Kim's bass intro and harmony vocals. I also appreciate how Frank recites the lyrics, while Kim sings them. Very pleasing to the ear. Frank's guitar right before the choruses has a cool chunky sound to it. Joey's guitar squeaks and squeals like never before. Great ending, as well.

This is one of my favorite Pixies song of all time. I would even say it's an ideal Pixies song, fusing together all the elements that make the Pixies the Pixies. It's got some great harmony between Charles's and Kim's vocals, rolling, laid back verses, desperate-sounding chorus, build up at the end. It's almost perfect. |
