I can't believe how great this song is. It has to be in my top 5 FB songs. The lead to wrap up the song is intoxicating...probably Lyle Workman's best stuff. It gives me chills. The drum rolls throughout the song have the perfect touch.
Sadly, I've never witnessed it live in the 3 FB gigs I've been to. Is anybody else moved by this song and/or have you seen it played live?

I fell in love with this song, too!! When I'm listening to Teenager Of The Year, at this song and the following two---Speedy Marie, Headache---I feel the first ecstasy. I used to choose these three and repeat them endlessly.I can't explain excellence of this song well...sorry, but the lyrics are nice, too. Anyway, this song is my favorite.

It has my fave FB moment, the OOOOHHHH!!!!! after "And I'll totally flip". I use to sing it like an orgasm shout when I'm in my car. It's possible that I can look like a jerk, uhhh.

I used to travel up to north wales to university on the train with frank black on my walkman. It was traditional to listen to it every time I made that trip. It was such a pretty coastline/mountain journey that I'd find myself singing along
Realised after a while people were looking at me funny.

o ho! never be embarrased. If people looked scared I'd stop. If they wrinkled their little noses with disgust I'd sing louder.. and maybe twitch a bit.
can't get into anything these days. Always on the peripheral. Always terrified, exhausted, annoyed, pissed, anxious, out of it-out of the loop, out of my mind, out of time.

Vanishing Spies, on of my top favorites also. It's that killer wind-up guitar ending I can't get enough of. Love that Lyle!!! |

Vanishing Spies...is that on TOTY? Is that the one where he says, "That is just how some things do not materialize"? I love how he says that. It's like this line all by itself. It doesn't go along with the rhyme and rhythm of the rest of the lyrics and he says it with such propriety...fuckin cool!

Bumping this thread to sing the praises of this kickass song.
"Say it's nothing but sky and I will be one lonely guy" is up there in desperation with Sister Isabelle's "does he need you more than I do" (though Frank didn't write those lyrics).
I just love this song.

I love this song too. I like the guitar solo/outro, it's just great!
"That is just how some things do not materialize". I'm also a fan of that line, his deilvery is perfect!

taking of guitar solos/intros/outros, those were the times of lyle workman, again.
but i said/wrote this a zillion times before. i guess i'm pretty boring, having not much to say except "lyle workman is god". but, hard times there are for me. and thinking of something beautiful as the guitar skills of LW brightens up my misery a bit. again, i feel sorry for my dumbness. fb.net is a good place, sometimes. definitely now. thank you, love you. now back to lenz moser, which is a delicious austrian wine. may god or whoever bless you all (yes, this all should be in the drunk thread, but i'm not that drunk. and the starting point was vanishing spies, three years ago, when everything was fine.)

Well I came to this one late but boy did I stay. The humanism of the one little blip line is so affirming. It's why I totally trust the man.
