We won
what a borring game
and everybody could have won
don't bother saying sweden was better
or holland was better
they both played like they were tired
and what the heck
the dutch literately never won with penalties
so that's one more thing to be happy about
we were out in 92,98 and 2000 because of some stupid penalty taking
and now we are through
damn!
I hope denmark wins today

Congrats Billgoodman, I thought Holland played better and wanted to win more badly, althought Sweden did have those two shots at the post, right at the end. Holland still doesn´t seem to be playing at its top level, but they have players that can take advantage of a single mistake from the defenses, something Portugal seems to be doing every game. On the other hand, Portugal has two more days of rest.
We´ll see what happens on Wednsday. |

MCA, congratulations ... you didn't steal that victory, for sure.
I had said in a previous post I wished France to beat Greece, because you can't win a game before it's played. And you must prove it on the pitch ... France didn't, Greece did.
But I got a question : how will Greece finish those building works before the olympic games to begin if they keep on winning at the euro ? Because, if they go on celebrating the way they did after beating France, noone will go back on building sites anymore ...

nono it's only normal that you wished to beat us. i actually was thinking that we were going to play just another embarassing game like the one against russia and get 3-4 goals. instead i saw a compact team without extraordinary tecnical skills but organized without stress and determined to do its best. my wildest hope was to stay 0-0 and end to penalties. greeks didn't expect a miracle to happen but now that it's happened they don't care that much about the olympic games anymore. we always loved football more than the other sports but never got to win anything other than negative records and total embarassement. now we believe in miracles and we want more. i confess that i was crying of joy when the game finished and i'm not the type that cries often. i know that football fans make laugh of us and attribute our victory more to french inefficiency and not to our skills but who cares? anyway this is our chance to make history. france, spain, italy, england, germany are the best teams in the world and they will come back in the next tournament. greece has just this opportunity to make us dream before returning to oblivion.
PS thanks to all of those who will support greece in the next game against the chech rep. (or hopefully denmark)

thanks nono. i know that the czechs are the favourires (they won all 3 games, the last one with a whole different team. best team in euro 2004 imho)but since it brings us luck i am happy that we are still considered a surprise.

the chechs are definately the best
but I still think Holland could have beaten them a week ago
maybe we will see them in the final match
although I don't think hollland will beat portugal

and i don't think holland will be able to beat portugal....
but yeah, czech to win - they've played fabulous football all tournament and haven't looked like losing a game.

I'm gutted for you Bill. I wish the semis were the other way round, cos I don't know who to back now, Greece or Czech Rep. I think Czech Republic for the tournament though - they've looked like the only team in the competition who've deserved to win it.

My mate is set to win £250 on his bet on Baros to be top goal scorer. Czech to win it, the only team to have not lost a game and look by far the best side going forward. A case of, not the best players in the world but one hell of a team.

i must congratulate ferguson for his decision of getting rid of barthez. the only thing that saves barthez is that is the luckiest person on earth because he sucks bigtime as a goalkeeper.

in 2000, France was a bit lucky, not only Barthez.
but if you say France was ONLY lucky to win against Spain (with a penalty missed by Raul), against Portugal (Zidane's golden goal on penalty, after Abel Xavier hand) and against Italy (what an end !), I disagree and say that success often come from will, motivation and perseverance.

no i am talking only about barthez, not about the whole team either france or MU. i've watched him a thousand times saving goals or more exactly NOT taking goals that were sure shots. maybe it's just a stupid thing of mine but i can't help thinking about it when i see him play.
