Even Joey has heros... I would think he's a Dick Dale fan. Though I hear a little Floyd in the Hey! solo. Dinosaur Rock? You kids have no respect for those that came before...

Hey I really like Pink Floyd, but Joey is my hero. I used to listen to Floyd when I was a kid and too young to really appreciate the guitar sound.

Yep, I'm with apl. Dave Gilmour is one of my favouritest guitarists ever. He has near perfect note choice.

You're almost 38 and you don't enjoy classic music like Floyd or Zeppelin? What's wrong with you man? Who hurt you. For me I'm a Gilmour man. I model my guitar playing to Gilmour and JOEY. Perfect mix if you ask me. Erie solos and an ambush of noise, gets the crowd going. But nothing against Page, just doesn't do enough to me like David does.

I enjoy some of it, but I'm fairly burned out on it. I don't hate Zeppelin, but I will always think of them as the band "the other kids" listened to when I was finding my own music.
I freely admit I still enjoy Meddle. I can never get enough of "Fearless." That song is a joyous masterpiece and definitely one of my top 50 songs of all time*!

| I'm not really familiar with Jimmy Page, but David Gilmour grabbed Nick Mason in 1986 and made a Gilmour album under Pink Floyd's name, completely ruining their legacy with a bunch of over-produced songs that take themselves way too seriously and neither evoke any emotions nor actually rock. case in point: "On The Turning Away", "Learning to Fly", "A New Machine", etc. So the award PROBABLY goes to Jimmy Page by default. |

Well Zeppelin did the same thing. They went off and did albums that no one really liked. So you can't rule out Floyd for doing the samething. There are people that don't like D Yer Mak Er and Kashmir, two amazing songs in my opinion. The Who did that too and The Rolling Stones, they both went disco but people forget that and remember their best work. Lou Reed even went shit during the 80s. I don't know the song, but there's a Reed video where he's dancing Bruce Springsteen style, it was bad. So don't look down on Gilmour for doing what other guys did too.

Not a huge Floyd or Zeppelin fan, but I think Jimmy Page gets my vote. Much broader range of talents, and cooler hair. Plus, he did the music for the best movie ever, Death Wish 3.

I have learned solos and rhythm work by both players - Page feels choppier, and slop isn't as noticable. Gilmour takes finesse to get right. Gilmour wins.
