i'm leaving in 20 minutes for a 5 day fishing trip with my dad in North Dakota. don't get me wrong, i'm really looking forward to it, and getting to spend some time with my dad, which i hardly ever get to do..
the only thing that scares me a little is:
a.) no loud music in my ears (i don't have a discman)
b.) no cigarettes (my dad HATES smoking, my parents can't know)
c.) no sex (except with myself, please.. no dad jokes)
d.) no alcohol (probably very little)
e.) bad coffee (there's no Peet's coffee there)
f.) no internet (you of all people, forum members, should know that this could kill me)
please pray for me, if you get a chance. |

That sounds lovely, even without the forum. Admittedly, it will be difficult to pray for you, but only because I'm not accostomed to it.
What part of North Dakota?

Okay, for two or three years now I have had an ongoing battle with my kids to get them to do something more creative than reading and posting on message boards. It's okay to do it in moderation, but they sit in front of their computers for hours and hours. I thought I would do something to help floop feel better during his fishing trip. So this week-end, I smoked, drank coffee and alcohol, used the internet, listened to music very loud and had sex twice.

I'm sure he will appreciate. And tonite, we will see the Pixies. I hope he gets all those positive vibrations across the ocean.
And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there. |

i hope that your dad's better at fishing than my dad. i still recall the humiliation of my first (and last) fishing day with my father. we woke up at 5am, we had all this ultra technologic pro-looking fishing equipment and garanteed to work lures and all we got was nothing, while a kid that was fishing next to us using a simple rod and bread and cheese as lure got a bucketfull of fish in 30 minutes. of course i could not smoke for your same reasons (and i smoke a lot), i could not use a walkman (because it was intended as a father and son spending time together kind of thing) and last but not least i don't like fish (i prefer meat). i would probably kill myself if that torture went on for five days instead of one.
