I am 30 and I decided to start learning to play guitar since I have a lot of free time in the summer....does anyone have advice on what Frank Black songs would be good for beginners (Or any songs for that matter)? |

The 1st Frank Black song I learned on guitar was Czar. It's a great song to play on electric or acoustic vesions. The second one I'd say was Thalassocracy, great to pick up rhythm speed but like me you probably will need help with the guitar solo ( a Lyle Workman masterpiece!!!).Jesus Was Right was another step forward and again Lyle's solo had me seeking help.Suffering was a highpoint for me,my endurance was up and I could already keep pace with the Catholics with my beloved Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty (I don't have it anymore, boo hoo!).As you can see I only played like one of each album because I don't like to learn whole albums(only one exception for Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols).I just play for fun and my main instrument is the bass but I'm a guitarist at heart!!! |

Brackish Boy has 4 chords only, I think. So it's extremely easy to play, though it's fast and you need to bar chord. You pretty much need to learn to bar chord to play most of FB's catalogue, though, since much of it includes quick changes. Your fingers would fall off trying to play some of his stuff the regular way. Dog in the Sand is another good one to try. Enjoy and keep us updated, -FranknWeezer |

Brackish Boy has 6 chords. The 4 chords for the verses and then the 2 for the "chorus"..
