2:15 a.m. Silly thoughts crossed my mind: They're not rocking that hard now, it would be dissapointing. I was terrified of it. Started a little bit late (Perharps I was too impatient), but it was worthwhile.
Oh, look at Kim!!! She's still a beauty!!! Older..., but fuck!!!, we're all older. Don't want to hear anyone and anywhere speaking shit about her.
The crowd get excited. Many of us have had to listen all Wilco stuff to get a good place (I'm not blaming Wilco for nothing, it would be good to listen it in other circumstances) and we are very nervous. A songs starts and this is all I can remember. I don't know which was the first song, but people started to jump and scream immediately. When River Euphrates chorus breaks up, I was sure I'll die crushed by someone. It's a good way to die, I repeat myself like a mantra. I didn't expect that reaction. During Caribou I turned my head and saw a boy crying and singing at the same time. Believe me, it was a madness!!!
When people calm down I realize about some things:
They haven't losed anything. Music was extremely amazing. BF was screaming like he was 23 years old again. David was playing great too. And (my greatest fear), they were having fun!!!. FB looks like a bad boy saying: "Hey, look at we have done". Look like he was proud of it. A criticism: Kim was a little bit passive. My friend told me that when a camera shoot at her, she look affected, like she was almost starting to cry, but I don't think so. Very Surfer Rosa and Doolittle stuff, Velouria from Bossanova, U-Mass and Subbacultcha from Trompe. Hope some day Frank will change his heart and play Letter to Memphis again. Into the White and In Heaven for Kim as B-Sides. "Vamos" funny guitar solo. We didn't get a second encore, but we can't grumble. Brilliant.
I'm sorry but I don't remember the setlist. Perhaps someone will post it one day.
Summary: Probably there isn't a word to explain it, but it was all AMAZING. A vital experience. If you have the possibility to see them, catch it!

first song was the now traditional bone machine, canīt remember what followed beyond there as i was sucked into the biggest crowd fervour iīve been witness to for a long long time.. the set followed very similar lines to those of the warm up tour and ended on where is my mind (possibly!)at which point they took a bow at the front of stage only to be received with an ovation of over 3 minutes from EVERYBODY, singing oe-oe-oe-oe.. honestly they looked flabbergasted at this reception and couldnīt pull themselves off stage.. eventually they left, to return moments later for an encore consiting of gigantic, hey and into the white.. apparently there were problems with the sound in some points of the arena but I didnīt notice that much, possibly because most people seemed intent on singing every word.. anyway, some not so good photos to follow shortly..

You're right. Seemed to be some problems with Joey's sound some times. And right again, people know all lyrics. Probably it isn't a surprise in the States or UK, but in Spain we speak spanish, and Frank isn't particularly easy to understand. I have a video but can't take photos, because in my place my camera don't want to take any. Lightness was very bad there. Hope i can upload it this week.
P.S.: Excuse my english in the review. I'm sure there are many mistakes, 'cause it's a long text .

Cameras weren't allowed, but there were many. My own one was a little digital photo camera, impossible to find. Probably I will go to Lisboa to see them, Rita. I haven't the money right now, but i'll make an effort. See you there. They deserve it.

wow, great pics francisco ... I take it you were an official photographer - you surely couldn't possibly have taken pictures that good from the crowd (I know, I tried!) |

Thanks for the setlist. It's probably OK. At least, it's correct in my mind.
And... if you were there, what do you think about my review?

Your review is excellent! I felt exactly the same!
I also had to bear the whole Wilco's set to be sure to have a good place, and I found this AWFUL! But maybe I was too impatient to see the Pixies (and a little bit tired because of the time)!

agreed ... they didn't open as such - it was a festival ... the main stage line-up that day went raveonettes, franz ferdinand, mudhoney, wilco, pixies ... the last three were mighty fine ... also liars, pj harvey and !!! (chk chk chk) played the following day |

Exactly, absolutly tired. And Poor Wilco. He was doing alright, but the general mood was like: Oh, fuck!!! Shut up and give us the Pixies!!!
