American Laundromat Records (ALR) welcomes The Bennies, a power-pop trio from south-central Pennsylvania. The Bennies unique recipe of sound blends edgy rock guitar riffs, catchy melodic vocals, and driving juggernaut rhythms with a heavy psychedelic dose of Modern '67. Since forming in September of 1998, The Bennies have recorded two albums to date: Their self-titled debut, recorded at WSYC 88.7 FM studios in early 1999; and Fossil Record, recorded in May of 2000 with studio maven Steve Albini (Nirvana, Bush, Pixies, Breeders, Page/Plant, etc.). The Bennies have been compared to a young 'Guided By Voices' and a latter-day 'Pixies'. They have toured with the legendary Frank Black on two consecutive tours and have just completed their third record... Turn the Hourglass Sideways. The Bennies will be contributing two songs to the upcoming American Laundromat Records Compilation CD due out in September, and will be opening shows later this year for The Pixies.

American Laundromat Records (www.americanlaundromatrecords.com) is an independent record label based on Long Island, New York. They gravitate to independent American Power-Pop, Garage Folk-Punk, and Edgy Singer-Songwriters. A compilation cd is in the works and seven bands from American’s roster will be contributing two songs each to the project. ALR founder and president Joseph Spadaro says… “We’ve decided to release a compilation cd because it is the most cost-effective way for us to promote all our bands. We’re a young label and our resources are limited, however there’s been a tremendous interest in American Laundromat Records and we wanted to give fans, radio stations, and industry insiders a record that featured our impressive roster of artists sharing their best work on one cd.”

Hah! No regrets man, no regrets. Simon, if you go to www.thebennies.com, you can email Jeremy from there. He might be able to hook you up with their last album (for a fee)...it's really good stuff, Steve Albini engineered it. They's gonna be rock stars someday.
