French Vanilla.
What does it mean (I think its a UK thing) when someone says 'bring the uniform'? (I think its crude in context)
If you tell me I'll blab who said it to me! |

I think its something to do with the context the phrase was used in, Caroly. For example, was the person you spoke with trying to get you to be 'mean' or something? Maybe its something to do with the English quirk for a girl in uniform, but then, I really have no idea...
Round of coffees, chez Cheesey!
Tea or coffee? I know this definitely a transatlantic difference... Explain yourselves!

(Wow, I don't read the forum for a few days, and there are already three more pages.)
(Oh, and I'm surprised no one answered "Jason" to the "favorite swimmer" question.)
(I'm making another parenthetical comment for absolutely no reason!)
Oh, and in answer to Cheeseman's question, I'm doing fine.
Is it wrong that, when I first saw the picture of the guy with the beanie, I thought of Frank?

Sex.
Although if I think about it, it is closely tied with rock and roll. Hmm...maybe it's a tie.
Late at night or early in the morning?

Can I say Kentucky bourbon?
I guess I just did. If no KB, then whisky, but I'll be grumpy.
Do you fish? If so, can you/do you fish in the waters near where you live? Can you eat the fish?

I haven't fished for a long time. I miss the thrill of seeing a bass coming up out of the water to take a lure and setting the hook when it is still in the air.

storms are fun in small quantities for me. it's a novelty to go visit friends in the midwest or on the East coast, because we don't really have storms here. i wouldn't want to live in them though..
getting hit by lightning and surviving would be awesome. and sexy. it's like getting attacked by a shark and living. chicks dig that.
plus, you have a built in party-conversation topic.

We have ace fireworks. November 5th is the traditional night for such frivolities, and the sky is usually completely lit by loons setting off explosives in their gardens. Cool.

Boring answer, floop. So much potential there...
My most prized possession... I don't really have one. I have a little statue from Crete (Cycladic?) that I like. Also, several CD's come into that category. Heh heh, my answers even more boring...
Tumble dry or air dry?

Air dry... good lord, Cheeseman, that question reeks of mundanity (is that even a word?)
Let's see if I can do any better...

I don't go to school anymore, but at the time I did, yes. My highschool was DuPont Manual (magnet school). The University I went to, not sure, but I know they were athletics whores, and well, Coca Cola got some nice placement, and come to think of it, Credit Card companies...
What is the most interesting aspect of theoretical computer science for you at the moment? (obviously intended for fudd, but if ya got an answer, bring it! ;))

Well, I woudln't want to hold things up. My favorite problems are scheduling problems. The most interesting ones are NP-hard, which means basically it would take the fastest computer a billion years to find the best schedule. So we concentrate on approximate solutions, i.e., can we find a schedule that is only twice as long as the best one, or maybe only 10% longer.
What do you do at work (anyone, and how about apl4eris answering later even if someone else does first)?
