I've never been all that fond of industrial music. It seems as though it has potential, but most of the time wallows in angst and aggression when so much more could be done with it. I have some friends who are brothers who absolutely love industrial music. They're always listening to NIN, KMFDM, Sister Machine Gun, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, etc. I actually saw KMFDM with them. Wasn't a bad show, but after about an hour of it, it got old. For as much as KMFDM seems to have a sense of humor, they seem to angry. I feel like all industrial thrives on angst when it doesn't seem it needs to. The vocals are one of the main things about it that I don't like. However, Lucia from KMFDM actually brings a sense of pop to the band that is much needed. Not only does she have a great stage presence (not only cuz she's extremely nice to look at but because she has energy), but her songs are the best songs I've ever heard from KMFDM. "From Here On Out" from their WWIII had to be the highlight of both the album and the show for me. I'm sure the hardcore industrial fans hate cuz it's sound doesn't let you know it's angry every 2 seconds. I dunno. Most industrial just doesn't seem to go very far. There's some good NIN stuff here and there, but I can only listen to so much of that before I get sick of it. I dunno, seems like a very boring form of music to me.

My brother keeps on telling me NIN are great but everything I've heard of theirs sucks. Does anyone here like them? If so, what are somegood songs to check out?

A few NIN songs that I consider to be among their better material are:
Something I Can Never Have Hurt March of the Pigs (what makes this song for me is the piano breaks) Down In It A Warm Place
What I think sabotages most NIN material for me is the unrelenting angst. There's other things in the world besides being a goth.

NIN has some great stuff, not really a fan but "March of the Pigs" is an amazing song in my opinion. The video is great too, I really love seeing bands get intense like that and throwing microphones around and shit. Pop Will Eat Itself has some pretty industrial sounding stuff don't they? Never really got into the genre for the exact reasons you guys have been citing but it would be cool to hear more of the cream of the crop. I had some friends that went to one of those KMFDM shows and was raving about and they're going to Skinny Puppy this summer too, I don't think I could sit through the entire though unless my tastes really evolve by then.

I was pretty into industrial before I became a parent.
After my daughter was born, screams and grating metal didn't seem as entertaining.
-
A child provides plenty of white noise.

I do still listen to the following while headed to/from work sometimes:
Throbbing Gristle Einsturzende Neubauten Das Ich Laibach Eugenics Council Clock DVA

Some industrial must have records
1- LARD: "The Last Temptation Of Reid". It's the Ministry with Jello Biafra lyrics\vocals. Fantastic. 2- Ministry: "KEFALHXQ"(in greek characters) 3- Terminal Power Company : "Red Skin Eclipse"
I don't like NIN much but "march of the pigs" and "the perfect drug"(lost highway OST) are great songs.
