right, i would ask you what your fave song is but....that impossible. in stead im asking what kind of pixies songs do you like? do you like the raging feedback 'rock music' style or more 'digging for fire' sing-song type songs? |

well i have to be in a certain to decide whats my favorite. right now im in a "rock style". like short little powerful songs like "oh my golly" ive been listening to that a lot right now, and "something against you", "rock music" "allison", "im amazed, "brick is red", and "there goes my gun" bbc version. i just got out of an early pixies years mood, like come on pilgrim, purple tape and such. i like it all, i just like some material more sometimes than others.

I like the raging type best. (Tame, Planet of Sound, Rock Music, etc...) But obviously I'm a fan of all Pixies/Frank Black music. |

I guess my favorites tend to be the grand, other-worldly kinds of songs that are prevalent in the late-period Pixies catalog, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the shorter, louder, more hyper numbers from the early period.

tamereg, i disagree with you putting tame, planet of sound and rock music in the same group. tameis very calm and explosive with a high element of surprise in it. rock music is screachy high, very loud and one of the heavier pixies songs. planet of sound is the only pixies song i allways skip when it comes on! i understand about likng the early pixies records though. they are someof the best. joey realy made himself heard with his strange but ingenious solos and guit. riffs, francis with his southing verse singing in english to his hysterical and brilliant screaming in spanish, kim with her twangy calm bass riffs, and dave, well...hes a good drummer. surfer rosa and come on pilgrim are the pixies! albums to be remembered, and which will live forever. |

Its a very peculiar situation. The Pixies are often many different bands in one, such is their versatility. That is why people can like some songs of theirs more than others, but then like the ones they didnt like before, later (if that makes sense). An example is, often people will like a particular band for a while, then tire of their style, and listen to another band, but then return to the first band, when that style suits them again. The difference with the Pixies is, although a person may like some of their songs better than others, they are always constantly liking the Pixies, such is the greatness of their versatility. Are they not the perfect band?
oh yes, I always like classics like Planet of Sound, Number 13 baby, Hey and Where Is My Mind, but i tend to like the more gentler songs, as oposed to songs like Rock Music (but then again i like that one too!)ARRRGGHHHHHH
