Cattle in Korea, they can really moo!
I kind of have a hard time understanding how so many people misheard the lyrics "this monkey's gone to Heaven," when it's almost the title of the song.
I've reached 1000 posts / So I'm too cool to be in a cult. |

that was good shakey... i got some good laughs...Especially with the RuPaul...one... he wasn't even around when that song was written... maybe FB has esp.
Actually in Caribou i thought it was "Red Hands" like getting caught red handed instead of "repent...repent." I dunno... is it REALLY repent????.... it sounds so much like "Red Hands...red HUH-HUH-haaands" |

Those "correct" lyrics are wrong. Everyone knows it's; "Ride a tiger down River Euphrates". Crazy site.

I was going to correct it to "Ride a tyre down the River Euphrates", but left it they way it was on the site. I know there was a thread about misheard Pixies lyrics a good while ago, but I always heard "Hey Paul, Hey Paul, Hey Paul, Lets Out Rock" in Gigantic, whatever thats supposed to mean?

My two favorites were "This Monday's Bound To Happen" and "Chocolate People Well I'll Be Damned".
And I always though the River Euphrates lyric was "Ride the Tigris, River Euphrates".

i´m not an english speaker, i´m from perú, and the first time that i play Debaser to my sister, she loves the song, and she sang "yaaah, i can´t lose youu.." when francis said "chien, andaloucia...". it´s funny, because francis always used other languages, like spanish or french at this case, and he "trompe le monde" jaja, he make mistakes, interlanguage mistakes that make better the lyrics. we, spanish speakers, make the mistake at the third level. for months I never proofreaded my sister, then I talk to her about Dali, Le Chien Andalou, then she knows what exactly it means. el perro andaluz, great movie.

My brother used to think:
"This Monkey's gone to Heaven"
was
"This shit is bound to happen" (HUH?!)
The rhythm guitarist in my first band used to think:
"A white moon's hot, but the other side's not"
was
"A white woman's hot, but the other side's not" (WTF?!)
They're not THAT hard to understand, are they?

I'm sorry, I though the one's I experienced were fucked up but THIS takes the cake:
The Pixies', "Planet Of Sound" Misheard Lyrics: Rip the clitoris out Correct Lyrics: Rhythmically to resound
In the song, Frank certainly sounds like he could, but I don't think so. WTF?!
This one is great, too: Pixies', "Debaser" Misheard Lyrics: Slicing a Bible Correct Lyrics: Slicing up eyeballs
People hear the strangest shit when they listen to music.
Maybe underneath the misheard lyric, they can put if they were under the influence of any drugs while listening. :)

I only discovered v.recently that in Bone Machine, Black Francis was talking to "Preachy Preach" and not "Peachy Peach" .. It now makes the "he tried to molest me in the parking lot" line a touch more unsavoury...

indeed, i always thought it was peachy peach too... and i thought he started off the song by saying "this is a song about a cow"...
Is it like today? Oh, oh, oh-oh. Then there followed days with kings, empires and revolutions. blood just looks the same when you open the veins. sometimes it was faith, power or reason as the cornerstone. but the furrowed brow has never left his face. he said, how did it come to this?

I always thought that he was singing "tropic people" Not "shock the people." Is it really "shock the people"?
PS - For a while I mistook the "fear of cars" line in "Ed is Dead" for "she got no pair of pliers."
Does anyone know for sure the lyrics to Rock Music? |

No, Shamu, like the whale.
I used to think it was "Little Eiffel stands in the archway, even though it doesn't make no sense." I think that's a pretty common mishearing.

Misheard Lyrics: This smoke is going to hurt me. Correct Lyrics: This monkey's gone to Heaven.
I mean, I just find that really unlikely...some of these have got to be made up. How could anyone who is not partially deaf possibly mangle the lyrics that badly? |

Yeah I'm a bit suspicious on the ones where they've misheard the word that is actually the song title....

I guess it's possible they heard it on the radio, or heard a friend playing it, and didn't know the title. Still, it does seem unlikely.
