I'm looking for it, too. If it shows up in the newsgroups (like all the other shows have), I'll certainly grab it and let you know. |

I checked db.etree and the show did get taped. The taper is only traded it to other Pixies DAT people at the moment. Give this one some time :)

Some guy at the sharingthegroove forum said that Pomona, Brasil and one or two of the Iceland show were recorded. They will turn up in time. An audience recording of the first Paris gig was available for download about a week ago. Don't know if that torrent is still alive though

pixies pomona exists,
its just not gonna be released now because the following will happen it will exist some dope will turn it into an mp3 some dope will download the mp3 and turn it into a wav cd some dope will take that wav cd, copy a disclive cd package and insert pomona on it, call it a board and sell it on ebay master taper doesnt want that scenario happening as that would seriously piss off disc live
given 99.9% of the people would do the right thing, this .1% problem keeps it out of the public realm

I completely understand the taper's wishes....afterall, he did all the work. But what about those of us that would do exactly as he asks and really want a copy because it was our first pixies show ever????
What do we have to do, to convince him to share it?? |

and what about those of us who promised to beat taper up, but then didn't? shouldn't we be rewarded? |

I just got a copy of this elusive show. It was the only show from the USA warm-up tour not to be recorded by DiscLive.. Not an official tour date but a surprise "pre-party" for Coachella. Probably the most "intimate" Pixies reunion show, seeing as the venue was much smaller than the places they usually play. Frank was a bit more talkative than usual.
Anyways, I got a nice quality cdr of the show direct from the taper (audience minidisc). He told me I was the only person he's traded it to, and instructed me to therefore be sure to "get good stuff for it." (Apparently there's also an aforementioned DAT recording of this show, but it hasn't circulated much either.)
Here's some "good stuff" I'm specifically looking for: - both/either of Frank Black's solo shows from S.F. earlier this year (Cobb's and/or the Independent). - a soundboard Pixies show with "Bam Thwok" live. - Trompe Le Monde demos/alternates "The J Malta Tape".. (I know I'm dreaming on this one) - Other bands I'd like live stuff from: Calamine, Three Mile Pilot, dig, Neutral Milk Hotel, Hum, Paw, Hopewell, Decemberists, Rilo Kiley, The Mighty Rime (definitely bonus points for you if you are a taper and have personally recorded any of these bands.)
my tradesite: http://members.cox.net/divercity/trade/ thanks |

I have had the DAT version since a week after the show. No one told me to hang on to it. At least I HOPE I wasnt supposed to as I traded it out a few times. Who has a DVD for me?

I've had this show for a while. Here is the information I have for the copy of the show I have.... DAT(M)-> CDR(3) (DPA 4061s-> PZmod battery box-> Sony PCM-M1-> DAT-M 48khz-> Tascam DA-20-> Monster coax-> DiO 2496-> Soundforge 6.0(resample to 44.1)-> CDWave-> FLAC)
I wonder if there are more sources of this show? On this source the sound is awesome!!

well crap, i guess i'm the last person to get it. nevermind, then. i think the source of my copy is something like: sony mini disc mr-55, sony stereo mic ecm-717 > cdr (untracked) > EAC > CDwav > cdr (tracked) |

If you want to distribute it, make a torrent or offer b+p. Don't start acting like one of the "elite" who can look down on everyone who doesn't have a super-exclusive bootleg to trade.
I want a copy of this. I won't make mp3s or any of that crap. I'm looking for someone to do a torrent, b+p or something along those lines so that I can get my hands on it. Until then, I'll wait. It's a bootleg recording and shouldn't be held hostage.

Not sure if that was directed to me or not but I dont know how to make torrents. I am on slow $10/mo dialup. I offer B&P occassionally but I dont always have time to do it for everything. At the moment I only have time to burn a few discs a week. I have offered plenty of free recordings in the past on other groups. I did 30 shows this summer and spent a fortune so I figure I should be able to get something else I could actually enjoy on the first trade before letting everything out for free and being unable to get anything. Not really asking for something super exclusive that no one could ever hope to have but something I have seen offered in trade on some lists and on Ebay for sale. Taping the shows impeded my enjoyment to a degree as I spent more time watching whats going on around me than the actual gig. So now I want to crack open a beer, kick back and watch a Pixies gig in my living room in a relaxed state. I dont have a DVD burner yet but I have a DAT recorder and a lot of masters and quite a few people have been happy to trade DVDs to me at the usual 4:1 ratio. Right now I would rather trade my recordings for a DVD than give away my recording and buy a DVD for $20 Anyway I already set up some trades this week for some Tegan & Sara recordings. Next week could be the Pixies for Pixies DVDs, Ozzfest CDR for Priest/Sabbath DVD, PJ Harvey CDRs for PJ Harvey DVD, Cheap Trick for Cheap Trick DVD, Beastie Boys CDR for...um, something. Anyway you get the picture. I am not threatening to hoard these forever until you get me Kim Deal nude pics and soundboards of the whole 89 tour or to wave them in your faces and gloat that I have them and you dont. However buying tickets and recording a show wasnt an entirely selfless act for bootleg collectors everywhere but so I could continue to enjoy the show in the future and get myself a few other shows I would like to enjoy. Anyway sorry for the rant I have a cold and am all high on robo but am just a little irked that its possibly suggested I somehow owe these discs to people for free. Besides if I popped them in the mail now they would have germs and you would get sick. Thank you, goodnight. |

You bring up some good points. I do appreciate the work that tapers do. The equipment is more expensive than I can afford, and I appreciate the fact that people do spend the money. I think, in this case, the problem that I had was that it's a show that someone else taped over five months ago, but everyone who manages to get a copy of it holds onto it unless someone has rare or expensive stuff to trade. My post was a lot angrier than it needed to be, and I apologize for that.
Like I said, I'd love to get the show (minidisc, DAT, or both). I have some bootlegs to trade (I even put together a crappy website today at http://www.angelfire.com/fang/pixiesstuff to list it all). If you see anything there that you'd like to trade for, please let me know. I'm also interested in almost all older Pixies bootlegs of complete shows.
