The setlist, courtesy of www.bigyawn.net:
Pixies set List: Bone Machine U-Mass Isla Wave of Mutilation (orig.) Broken Face # 13 baby Caribou Thirteen Gouge Away Tame Monkey Gone to Heaven Debaser Velouria (Song from doolittle I forgot) Gigantic Nimrod's Son (second half very slow - quarter tempo... very haunting) Incestuous Union! Here comes your man (As a note...there is NOTHING wrong w/ Kim's bass playing...she sounds very crisp) [feat. spacey jam] Where is My Mind? Into the Wire
It appears that the band has forgotten that they released Bossonova and Trompe (only one song from each).

Strange, I start a topic, someone else starts another Coachella topic after I do, and no one posts to mine!

I figure everyone who was there either has heat stoke or is asleep. There hasn't even been any news about Coachella yet, really. Can't wait for everyone to wake up or get out of the hospital...

I've checked both of the Coachella and would like more details, pretty please. (whip cracks). How many people would you suppose were at that stage at that time? What was the general festival experience like? What was it like for Radiohead to follow the Pixies? Were a lot of people there mostly to see the Pixies? |

I was there. Kicked ass. How many people were there? I saw an estimate of 65,000. I'd say sixty percent of the people who were there were watching The Pixies. Maybe eighty. They exceeded my expectations. The songs were huge. Except for a couple glaring mistakes they played really tightly. They had an awesome bass sound coming from Kim Deal, and Santiago sounded crystal clear. And Frank Black was the great musician that he is, really charming and powerful. People were pogo-ing like crazy. It was one of my favorite sets by any band that I have ever seen--remarkable songcraft, remarkable performance. Seriously, in case you don't know by now, the Pixies reunion is fucking for real. This is a serious, big rock band. If anyone has any questions about the performance or the weekend I can answer them. |
