Was having a look in my local cd store here in canberra, and saw this cd - it looked kind of official, but the 30 or so tracks were made up of what looked like the doolittle demos bootleg (which i have a copy of) plus some other later demos (hang on to your ego was one), plus some live tracks. Im assuming this is not an official release, but does anyone know any more about it?
Also, was listening to a boot the other day, from Utrecht Holland 1990, and it contained 8 or 9 tracks from what was definitely the show that appears on the ltd edition of "Death To The Pixies", but the order was totally different although the songs still sounded seamless - also "Velouria" was on there, but wasn't on the DTTP disc. The order was: Monkey, Isla De Encanta, Velouria, Wave, WIMM, Ed is Dead, Allison, Broken Face, Tony's Theme.
Does anyone know why Velouria wasnt on DTTP, cos its a great version, and also which setlist hasnt been fucked with?
cheers
3rd Annual Australian Frank Black Countdown August 2003 - all involved parties rank EVERY released FB song from FB self/titled to the present - average ranks are calculated - beer (or suitable substitute) is added (mostly in drinking-game form - ie. rate a song well below its average and you drink a punishing amount), then sit back and enjoy a day of frank black....the only problem is quite often memory of the top songs is somewhat limited the next day |

I think I've heard of the second bootleg you are referring to - is it "All Over the World"?
I think its a shame that they messed around with the setlist for DTTP, especially as you say - with such an excellent rendition of Velouria available
The only bootleg I've seen with "hang on to your ego" on was Rough Diamonds, and I don't think that has the doolittle demos on it (I've only ever seen the Doolittle Demos on sale once and my then poor student pockets wouldn't stretch to buying it - doh)
My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free |

I know Purple Tape 2. It presents itself as a Brazilian (I think) official release, but this is just a bootleg comprising tracks from Give Me Ecstasy (the Doolittle demos) and Rough Diamonds (the rest). |

It surely is not a Brazilian release. Never saw this Purple Tape 2 thing. |

You regularly see some of them for sale on ebay Germany (!) May be an indication of the real origin. |

i saw one in a local store here (japan) and i remember it being mexican i think, which was kinda weird. i imagine it's just another bootleg that has somehow managed to pass itself off as real. there were a lot of nirvana bootlegs doing the same here a while back, saying they were on tupelo records.
