Great show. Went about 85 minutes. Packed house of course. The McDonald used to be a single screen movie theater and is a great place for shows. I can't remember everything that was played but here's my short list that people should add to as necessary. In no particular order:

Bone Machine
Debaser
Levitate Me
Here Comes Your Man
Where Is My Mind?
Vamos
La La Love You
Caribou
Gigantic
Hey
Velouria

That's about half ...and I'm too tired to remember the rest. I'll try to do a better job remebering tomorrows show.

They also played:

Holiday Song
Nimrod's Son
Broken Face
Cactus
Tame
Wave of Mutilation
In Heaven/Wave UK
I Bleed
Dead
Monkey Gone To Heaven
#13 Baby
Gouge Away
Winterlong
Into The White

All in all, a good show. Not a *great* one, mainly because the PA was a little quiet and the crowd was really push and shove-y towards the front. The Pixies performance was inspired and Frank seemed to be having a lot of fun. It was surreal for me seeing him and Kim on the same stage after having previously resigned myself to never having the chance.

Audio Learning Center were quite good, I thought. Their set was far too abbreviated (couldn't've been more than half an hour, if that).

Hmm...only two responses here?? Anyway, the show was really good. There was very little chatter--they did a pretty businesslike show, but it was obvious they were having a good time. Charles and Kim smiled a lot, as did David. Joey looked pretty serious, always looking at his guitar. The band was really tight. Last night's show sounded as good or better as any of the shows so far (from what I've gathered from listening to tracks from the first few shows). The only flub was Kim forgetting the second verse to Gigantic. Charles had to walk over and tell her the lyrics, but he didn't look annoyed--he appeared to chuckle a bit.

Overall, a great experience. It can only get better tonite, I think.

Tony

Great set list. Anyway I just hope they'll finally add new songs and why not tomorrow? What's the fun to play the same set list in the same place 2 nights in a row? Why don't playing Alec Eiffel, All over the world, Havalina, the Navajo know...songs it was already hard to hear live 12 years ago ! I keep praying !

yeah, it sucks to think that they've already played every song they're gonna play. especially with the shows being officially recorded/sold (therefore heard by many people, not just whoever was at the show), it'd be nice if they threw in a surprise from time to time.

anyways, could somebody please post the full, correct setlist for the 4/27 show so i could add it to the 'song count' page?
thanks,
Gavin

While there were the occasional problems (Frank's guitar strap unhooking at one point, Kim forgetting a verse of Gigantic) it was a fantastic show. They all seemed to be having a great time (except as antrobin said, Joey was all focused on his playing, but I kind of remember him being like that when I saw them in Portland in '91).

It was an 'all business' show though, one song directly into the next with virtually no banter with the crowd except the occasional 'thanks' from the ever-amicable Kim. One memorable moment was during Joey's solo on Vamos, David tossed a drumstick to Joey across the stage, who caught it, and proceeded to use it on his guitar. Created a nice messy noise. :)

The venue was great as well, a good size, and aside from maybe the back of the balcony, there wasn't a bad spot in the place. The open slanted floor provided good viewing for all with the exception of the occasional tall guy with big bushy hair. hehe.

I'd been waiting a long time to see them again, my fiancee had never got to see them before they split up, and neither of us were disappointed. My ears are still ringing.

I was sure they played the Holiday Song...

Hopefully you're right about Coachella, Dean. I was really disappointed the band didn't play anything off Trompe le Monde. At least they seemed to be having fun. I did think it was pretty cool that the pre-show background music was Zen Arcade by Husker Du. :)

My ears are also still ringing.

i thought the show was great. i was in the middle of the venue, right under where the balcony started and i had plenty of room to freak out to all my favorite songs and not worry about hitting or bumping any one. i was beginning to question the "selling out" of the show because there was sooo much room back there. don't get me wrong i loved it i'm just not used to that for a sell out show. i thought the sound was great too. and even though everyone was sininging along, it never affected me hearing the band perfectly. i kept hearing very subtle but cool stuff from joey, that maybe on the albums, but never noticed cause my system isn't all that. but for like 4-5 songs, i kept hearing cool noise from him that even though were very minor, really added to songs for me. never been to the venue before, cause i live in oakland, ca, and probably won't be back any time soon. but loved the fact that it was an old theater, cause the floor slightly sloopped upward towards the back so even though people were in front of me i could still see with no problems. a friend who was in the balcony bar, overheard someone say they were filming this show to put out on dvd, any one know if this was true?? when they first came out i had my earplugs but it just didn't feel right, although for like the last 4 songs i had to put them in. there was a great vibe from the crowd too, at least from where i was, everyone one was singing, smiles as big as could, jumping up and down and spazzing out how ever they liked to their favorites, it was just awesome. i can't wait for thurs. in davis. i hope it's as good. the other thing that was interesting was there were a few scalpers in front as we were walking in, with 2-3 tickets each, 15-20 minutes before the pixies came selling for face value. i hope some fans were able to take advantage of that and get in. if you don't have tickets for davis, but live near by, i'd do the drive and try to get lucky incase the same thing happens.
