Not really.
Hello all... long time listener, first time caller.
I made the trek from Boston to Vancouver last week to see the Friday show and it was, in a word, magic. I felt like a teenager again. I used to see the Pixies play around Boston in the late eighties and missing the warm-up tour was never an option for me.
I documented my trip. If you can put up with a lot of non-Pixies material and bad private jokes, you may get a kick out of a few of these photos. You've been warned: http://www.david.pye.com/index.htm
Who'd have thought?

Ha, those are great. I'm almost positive ... no, I am positive ... this is me on the left in the Pixies cap and the blue hoodie.
See, I was really there! |

That's hilarious. Try not to sue me. I want to know who the guy is with the giant perch tatooed on his arm. Or is it a sunfish?
Back in 89 my friend, his older brother (he drove us... we were only 15) went to see the Pixies on Landsdowne street in Boston. It's the street that runs parallel to Fenway Park and is still full of bars and clubs to this day.
When the show was over, we walked out onto the street but couldn't find Jeff. It was freezing, and we couldn't get into any of the proper bars due to our age, so we huddled in the doorway of the Citi club (now Avalon) and waited for him. He stumbled out of a nearby alley about half an hour later, stoned out of his gourd.
"Where the f*ck were you?" we asked. "Getting stoned backstage." he replied. We immediately forgot all about being mad and started grabbing at the poster he had rolled up under his arm. It was one of the Doolittle sepia still life photographs -- the one of the dead, upside down crab. Written in black marker across it was "Jeff! Come Die With Us Soon. - Kim". He still has it.
I think I'll ask him to will it to me. |

Jeez, those photos made me realise how much I neglect my own backyard. They made me homesick and I'm 20 minutes away.I think I should go to Whytecliff this week-end, yeah.
Hey Dave, did you get to Lighthouse Park, my preference to the two, Whytecliff has better scuba diving though.
Why is 'monosyllabic' such a long word? |
