For her farewell concert she packed out Carnegie Hall and disappointed her fans by starting out with three correct notes but then returned to form by dispensing altogether with stave, pitch and key, going so far out of tune without actually coming back in again.

I think this must be a mistake. Jessica Simpson is OBVIOUSLY the worst singer in history and she is EVERYWHERE. It's fucking frightening. |

Bob Dylan. The only thing worse thn his singing is when he blows the harmonica. Noteworthy writer though (for a crazy guy). |

Nonsense, Dylan has a wonderfully distinctive voice. His songs wouldn't be the same if sung by someone else. |

Never heard Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - must rectify that. The song I heard at the sound-booth was Mr. Tambourine Man and I thought How much can it sound like Cap'n Kirk doing Dylan? and well, quite a lot as it turned out: "In the. Jingle-jangle morning. I'll. Come follow you."
Neither have I heard Jessica Simpson but have seen pictures and I was put in mind of a teevee dinner, in a shrinkwrapped lifelessness kind of way.

Everyone should check out the 'Golden Throats' comp. on Rhino. Shatner, Nimoy, Lorne Greene, Sebastian Cabot and many more, a true classic.
I'd say Springsteen is worse than Dylan, but not by much...

I personally like Shatner's album recorded entirely in the "language" of Esperanto. Now, THAT is fabulous!

Anybody heard of Richard Cheese? He takes Heavy metal songs and does them...lounge style. It's so deliciously funny. His song had a small part in the new Dawn of the Dead.
I was the only one in the theatre killing myself with laughter.

Richard Cheese is cool for a while, can't say I could sit listening to his songs. Lounge music with a twist. His version of hash pipe is cool.

I'd have to go with Jessica Simpson, she's terrible, and is filthy rich because of it. However, that band in the original link is definitely terrible as well. I can't sing worth a shit either really, so I don't know why I'm talking, or the Pixies keep on covering my song... hehe
I mean tiffany and debbie gibson would destroy simpson as the Gunn would assault his guitar with a new freaky solo for stairway to heaven.... |

Dylan's early days were good. As he got older I lost interest (more nasally)

My vote for the worst singer goes to that chick from the Cranberries. Simply horrifying. And though i hate to have something in common with MadDawg, i must admit that he's right. Dylan sucks too. Not as much as the Rasmus singer(how the fuck can people stand that noise?) or the Guano Apes singer but he's in the top 10 just because he's ridiculously famous for his limited capacities.

I'll second that! That reminds me of a little story. It goes like this: Once upon a time, I met(work with) this girl (39 year old woman now) that I became friendly with. One thing strange I've noticed about her though, was that over the years she'd change her style to whatever enviroment she was most subjected to at that time in her life. This generally changes to suit current man in her life (If they have nothing in common initially they will shortly). When I first met her (1993) she was this earthy crunchy vegetarian chick, that listened to the Eagles or Chicago and washed with eight dollar seaweed soap. I met her through her roomate and would hang with them here and there. After an evening of being subjected to way too much classic rock, I tried to introduce them to what I considered good music. Artists like, P.J.Harvey, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Bjork, Frank etc. I tried but to no avail. They, particularly she, was not into this "wierd" music at all, particularly PJ Harvey. "She's ugly" I remember her saying. A few years later "alternative" music is all the rave. Suddenly she's showing up with short platinum blonde hair and funky/hip clothing. She would get excited when I'd tell her I was going to see Dinosaur Jr, or PJ Harvey. The sad part is she appeared to be fashioning herself after that chick from the Cranberries. Someone at work said that to her and with a big smile she replies "you mean, Dolores O'Riandon?!!" (had to look that up). After a while I couldn't take it any more so I told her she looked like the lead singer from Green Day. She ran to the mirror and screamed, "Oh my God! I do look like Billy (whatever)!" The next time I saw her (two month's) that look was gone. She's gone through many trends since. The most annoying memory was the night I walked into my favorite joint in Boston and she's sitting there smoking a cigar. That was during that hot trend when it was "cool" for women to smoke cigars. These days at 39, it's a Volvo and the young urban professional theme. I just look on in bewilderment and pity.

I'm with you, Alicia, I was sat in the cinema just going, "Hey! Its Richard Cheese!" Anyone unfamiliar, I'd also recommend Nookie/Break Stuff, Holiday In Cambodia or Creep, or his albums Lounge Against The Machine and Tuxicity.
On a similar note, anyone heard Pat Boone's cover of 'Enter Sandman'?

Back in 1994, he used to be able to hit some high notes and make big leaps. But his voice is shot now. He's probably the worst singer who makes a huge amount of money. Yes, worse than Dylan. |

I still think he's pretty good. Not the best singer around by any means but I still think he has a fairly good rock voice. He was at his best early on though. He sounds great on Definitely Maybe.

I'll second that.
I heard a snippet of an album that Sylvester Stallone recorded once. It was beyond awful but he at least had the good sense to not release it because he came to the conclusion that he didn't like the sound of his own voice. Good call Punchy.
