I have just been reading about the forthcoming movie, Troy.

I must say I can't wait for this film, as I LOVE The Iliad, plus it stars Brad Pitt and he is my favourite actor.

I have always had an interest in ancient Greece and it's mythology, they gave us so much, including the Roman Empire allegedly (who in turn gave us a lot).

Anyone else have any interest at all in Ancient Greece???

Very interesting.

And yes, I find Brad Pitt to be as close to a perfect male specimen as I have ever seen. After you of course Simon.

flattery will get you no where mike. my mate really likes brad pitt too. a lot of men like him a lot. i'm not too arsed. give me david duchovny any day... now if he played troy... that'd be a bad-ass film!

He is a very underrated actor and he has real magnetism.

The camera loves him, he has that old school charisma that the likes of Robert Redford and Steve McGueen used to have.

I could watch him all day. Lucky Jennifer!!! He could do soooooo much better!!!

Ancient Greece is cool. All ancient cilivisation is interesting. When will ours crumble?! Soon I hope, the music is becoming dire. What was I saying? Oh yes, did you know Greece wasn't actually a country until the early 20th Century?

Duchovny doesn't have a great range of emotions on camera does he?

Anyway back to the actual topic. Yes I did know that Tom. Troy is now in Turkey.

It's weird to think these places of power are now fairly cheap tourist locations for us. I prefer ancient Egyptian stuff and Roman Empire history over Greek to be honest. Apparently the Ancient Greek tried a form of Communism all those years ago. It fell flat on it's face. The Russians wouldn't listen!

Yeah the Greeks inspired Hitler and Stalin unfortunately.

I agree that Egyptian history is really fascinating!!! Possibly the most fascinating of all. I need to read more on it actually.

As for the Romans, well it is believed that the people of Troy who survived the war, moved to form what was later to become the Roman Empire.

I just love the romance of Ancient Greece though. I don't use the word romance in the common sense of the word.

I love the space and extra-terrestrial association that's come from Ancient Egypt. I once watched a programme about how the Pyramids were built to a constellation, and how the Incas (I think) built another set of Pyramids a thousand years later to the same scheme, even though the heavens have changed since the days of the Ancient Egyptians (the Incas used the same one as the Egyptians). God bless the Discovery Channel!

Weird that the Ancient Greeks contributed so much to science and the humanities and they never did get a handle on using zero in mathematics.

Close! It's Daventry, a small market town just down the road from Northampton. Nice place, I go there often. Have you ever been?

What, Daventry? Nope. Been to N'hamton a few times though, I had an auntie there and I still have friends there. I don't find it 'nice' particularly. More like, horrendously dull.

The old part of the town centre is nice, but the housing estates around are not (obviously). I guess it is rather dull, but if you live in Daventry it's the only cheap place to go that's somewhat nicer. Northampton *is* nice compared to Daventry (or Dysentery, as it's fondly known). All you'll find here is car parks, housing estates and shopping trolleys.

Thanks Sir! I tip my hat.
I don't think it was solarised. To be honest, I can't remember! I don't normally use solarisation though. I have a feeling it was the result of playing around with negative image.
