I say eye-ther.
I say on-velope.
Don't think I've ever had any reason to say scones. I would say sc-owns, though.

There's a Marx Bros. bit about this. It's in Night In Casablanca, I think.

I say "ee-ther," usually, but I sometimes switch it up. They're both acceptable, to my mind.
I say "on-velope," but not "om-velope." Is the Omvelope some sort of all-powerful envelope or something?
When I was in elementary school, I had several teachers who pronounced the T in "often." Is that common?
I've reached 1000 posts / So I'm too cool to be in a cult. |

what's with the other ways of saying envelope?! this is mad! i've never heard anyone say it any other way than en-ve-lope, you know, how it's spelt! you're all mad! saying the T in often is odd, unless you're very northern over here and you're saying t'often... like homers pet monkey does.

I say ofTen, EYEther, and Onvelope. What I hate the most is when people say AWnt instead of ant when referring to one's aunt, but I guess AWnt is the right pronounciation, I don't know. I also say pOOr instead of pore when saying the word poor

I pronounce it "eether" usually. I also say "onvelope" at work when explaining rebates to customers.

no it's not pronounced scowns. my intial phonetic spelling was poor i admit, but scowns it is not. it's scons. there's no 'ou' or 'w' in there anywhere for a reason.

to bring it around to Frank.. when i singing along to "where is my mind", i'll usually say care-a-BEE-en instead of cuh-RIBBY-en. just to take the piss, as you English say.
i had a professor last year who would always say "across" as "acrosst/acrossed", neither (knee-ther vs nye-ther!) of which is a word. she was a bitch, so it's ok to make fun of her. |

How about this one: COUPON
I freaking hate "Q-pon" even if it is the correct way.
As far as I'm concerned, it's "Ku-pon"

How about "Tuesday"? I say "twos-day", but I know some people (ahem... Dean....) who say "tews-day", with a more exaggerated "tew". |

I say "Q-pon," but I realize I'm probably wrong. I also say "ahnt" (not "awnt"; there's no W sound in the way I say it).
