Can someone tell me if Frank Black played with the Teenage Fun Club and if there is an album the name of it!
Sorry about my ignorance!

It's also on the MAN WHO WAS TOO DRUNK bootleg thing (what is that actually called?). I found the FB/Teenage Fanclub EP in Tower Records in London and was very excited. I love Frank's little writing blurb in there.

This album was a highlight purchase of my trip to Londaon last winter. I bought it in HMV on Oxford St. I didn't think I would just find it ont eh rack walking into a random store.

I bought that EP because I'd been sent to HMV to buy the works leaving present for a departing colleague. I couldn't bear the thought that the girl behind the counter would think I'd bought "The Eagles: Hell Freezes Over" DVD for myself, so The Peel Sessions was my "it's obviously not for me; do I look like I'm into The Sodding Eagles?" diversionary purchase. And boy was I glad; the version of "Handyman" on there absolutely blew me away.

i think this little album marks very clearly the transition from the "eccentric" era (orange/yellow album TOTY) to the "back to the roots" era. it's somehow a turning point - in every aspect: more simple instrumentation, less "weird" lyrics, simple recording, even the singing is much more rootsy.
don't get me wrong, i think almost any fb-album is equally brilliant, and i know this one had to be recorded fast as it was a peel-session, that's why the simple recording & instrumentation...
but looking back, and looking from the outside, i can't help about this impression...
i remember when it came out there were two instantaneous impressions: wow, this sound or overall feeling of these songs is extremely powerful, and at the same time, it's very far away from the fb i knew until than.

FBC, this is s very old thread...you are really taking some threads out of the trunk! And to answer your question, I have it, the only bad thing about it is that it is too SHORT!
I can´t just listen to 4 songs when I listen to Frank singing...
