While we're name dropping bands, anyone a fan? Out of curiosity, I listened to a sampler of their tunes on Rhapsody and I really really really dig them a lot! Musically, they're like Mogwai...very airy, mellow, jangly guitars...vocally, I don't know...like Granddaddy? They're an excellent band, I highly recommend them. This band goes very much in the vein with "quiet as the new loud." I think they might have even been mentioned in that thread...

Much as I hate to agree with floop, I think he may be right on this one-- he does actively hate them.

And floop, what's involved in active hating? Do you have to regularly attend meetings, or do you subscribe to a newsletter? To think, all these years I've just been passively hating things... |

speedy - i guess active hatred is hatred in its purest form.
i just wanted to specify that i don't mean i "hate" them in the way people casually use the term. like, "oh, i hate maple syrup".. or, "oh my god, i hate that show"..
i mean, quite literally, i hate that band.
it's rare for me to feel that strongly against any band. normally, i could care less. i either like something, don't like it, or i'm indifferent.
when i hear Death Cab i see red. i don't know what it is exactly . |

The mail delivery organization, or "MDO" as us postal nerds call it. Sometimes I sit downtown and watch the action around the main post office, pics can be found on my site. Other times, I'll follow a postal worker on his route (we call this routing). We all have our favourite postal employee's, and some of us even correspond with them, though this is usually frowned upon (by our local police deptartment). Yes indeedy, I'm a big fan. If it weren't for this forum, I would have absolutely no other interests. |

I haven't heard much Death Cab, though I remember liking what I heard. Don't remember what it was.
I saw a band that is on the same label as theirs, a band called The Prom. They were quite good live, kind of in the same vein as Jeff Tweedy, and a bit of Ben Folds, something like that. The lead singer had a Fender Rhodes and it sounded great. Their guitarist was good, too. Unfortunately, their album kind of sucked. It sounded too much like Ben Folds and lacked the Fender Rhodes. Just lots of piano, very little guitar (cuz the guitarist hadn't joined when they recorded it), and the sounds just didn't have the same rocking quality that they did live. Maybe now that they've got a better lineup, their next album will be truer to the live show that I saw.
