Hey I just wanted to put a shout out to Dave... also known as Roomloo (unless he wants to change his board name :) - yeah - after so many things fell apart as far as going to the Pixies, Dave happened to have an extra ticket to the first show on my birthday at Minneapolis on Tuesday. Others were going for up to $400, or so I've heard.
This was one of the best, most exciting experiences of my life. Also definitely the best show that I've ever been too. There was just so much energy... it ^$#*!( rocked!!! All of this on my 22nd birthday. It was fun meeting some of the people from "the boards" too. Also I met some guys from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New York. The show was incredible. They looked way different, what can I say, but I sort of liked that fact. Joey Santiago still gave people weird stares (and was *#&$^#& swell on the guitar). David Lovering was magically late 80's rocker hot. Frank Black was really solid and seemed to be so into it. And Kim Deal looked like my mum in a band on a Saturday night (when she was smoking, drinking a beer, and playing bass at the same time, that was funny). They were maniacally rocking and yet at the same time humble.
I've been a longtime Pixies fan, but never have I really been into Frank Black's solo stuff. This has changed. I suppose that I was less familiar with Frank Black's records, but getting into Dog In the Sand, Show Me Your Tears, Pistolero, and his self-titled one... that's all been a new ear adventure since the concert. As has been listening to the live Disc Live album of the show.
Just wanted to thank Dave and everyone for a really great night. Waarrrgh! |

I likewise tip my hat in Dave's general direction. Geuninely nice guy to the core, glad I was able to slightly return the favour to him.

What can you say about a guy who puts up 2 canadians in his house overnight and although alkmost dead on his feet walks us around his neighbourhood to try to find us a pizza at 1 in the morning? Dave, let your friend know that I gave the Peeps to my son. He wouldn't eat them. |

I will cast a vote for Dave as well, there have been a number of solid deeds on his part, and I count myself among the benefactors. Have a heap of goodwill, man.

"Did I ever tell you about the time Roomloo took me out to go get a drink with him? We go off looking for a bar and we can't find one. Finally Roomloo takes me to a vacant lot and says, 'Here we are.' We sat there for a year and a half and sure enough someone constructs a bar around us. The day they opened we ordered a shot, drank it, and then burned the place to the ground. Brasky I mean Roomloo yelled over the roar of the flames, 'Always leave things the way you found em!'"
atleast that's the way I remember it. |

Dittoing a big thanks to Roomloo for everything he's done to spread the love here on the board. And there are lots of other people who have gone way out of their way to help each other out, and you all know who you are. So thanks to y'all too. You've made a big difference in the lives of us fans. I've tried helping as many as I could to see the Pixies live, but my efforts have just been dwarfed by some of you guys. But that's a good thing. Keep it up!

My hero is puckhead who sold me a ticket at face value, rather than pocketing the $150 he could have made otherwise. Thanks again puckhead. |

Yeah, I won one from Havalina and got it for face value, and it was the Minneapolis show. Those people are in it for the music and not the profit. Good does still exist in this world.
